Why would you let your follower die?

I've only had to reload once when Janessa died because she just ran into a vampire den. I just can't let her go. Her, Lydia, and Mauricio are my favourite.

For me, reloading is based on 2 things: How many trips will it take to haul the equipment on a dead follower back to my house, shop, ect? And (more importantly) is my follower named Mjoll or Aela? I'd start the game over for those saucy wenches.

Note: 95% of my followers die because they decide to get between me and whoever I'm dumping a truck load of d***-stompings on at the moment. It's a plopsty feeling when you unleash an Ice Storm on a bandit, only to have your follower engage at the same time.

i grabbed a mercenary for Boethieah's calling.... Uhmmm... The one in Windhelm, i never used him at all and forgot about him.

Janessa, Marcurio, my Housecarl from Markarth are my top three followers. I tried the companions and Cicero, but they all talk too much, except for Farkas who just dies too many times to care for.

Lydia kept dying so i decided to finish Morokei alone, with my two flame atronachs

I only reload if she has my valuables like dragon poop

If they die gloriously fighting a dragon or some other real powerful enemy, I'll let them be, if I accidently fus ro dah them while they're on their knee recovering (happens pretty frequently actually), I'll re-load.
