Why would you let your follower die?

Unless you are playing on of the hardcore styles I read about here, don't most people just reload if their favorite follower gets killed, the same way you do if you die?

I do, I cant help it. Even if it's a tough battle for some reason I feel compelled to do it again rather than lose Lydia.

Lol...yeah it's sad really....I just just feel I've failed the battle if she dies...like if I die.

(plus who is gonna carry back all the plops she is holding for me?)

When I first got Lydia, I accidentally killed her. Said: "Oh well, she will be missed." and moved on. Now, when my followers die I have to reload. I cant risk losing Uthegerd, Mjoll, or Marcurio for good!

When my follower dies he/she always disappears and I can't find him/her anymore and I don't really remember when I saw them last time... :-D I always try to find them, but it seems like they just disappear for real. : | And it takes me a while to even realize that they are gone.

But when I see that my follower gets killed then I reload.

Ah well, I don't use followers all that much. But when I do, if they die, they stay dead. It's the way I play. Honestly the only npc I ever felt sad over having seen died, and that was Mazoga the Orc from Oblivion. We killed so many Black Bow Bandits and collected so many bows together. When she tripped a rock trap and died... I was at a loss for words.

Depends on the character you're playing I guess. My current build could care less about followers, she's is just evil. My current followers are Undead; Astrid of the DB and Ulfric Stormcloak. Sometimes I Conjure up Flame and Frost Thralls or Summon Dremora Lords.

The only one I cared about, the one I busted my ass to get 100 in Conjuration so I could get the Death Thrall spell, was Lydia. And now her body is gone. :(

I always reload as well. I have a tendency to get really attached to my followers. It's very Fellowship of the Ring with us. :P So yeah, if someone falls behind, I reload. Though now that I have the PC version, I just use the resurrect command. :D

That is only because you crush on so many of them Docta! You could never let your beloveds die! :D

Okay, BBB, is your thread about saving all followers, or just, ahem, Lydia and only Lydia? ;) btw, Join me, my friend, as we worship at the altar of Lydia. You are tasked with the job of constructing said altar, BBB. And I will stand next to you, slightly askew, to send praises upon this altar. :)

Lol tbh I haven't had any followers yet except Lydia and the archer dude who u just get to train u then take all your money back, I'm only lvl 22. As long as I don't lose her, I don't see why I would trade her in after all her efforts...she's pretty tough, and I can live with the smartass "I am sworn to carry your burdens" (man, GET A NEW LINE)

I started the thread after reading one talking about how people's followers died, and I wondered why people were letting them die...I assumed they were more the hardcore role player types...but I guess there are the "couldn't give a fk types" too. Just curious if there are many obsessive-compulsive types like me who can't live with the irritation of having lost them :P

Oh sorry didn't answer ur question...u make the shrine and I'll pay my respects if u can get her to stop whinging about my burden!

I can't stand it when my followers die, I automatically reload. And where is said shrine to be erected I must pay my respect to the great lydia

I rarely use followers. But after my Dunmer did Azura's quest, I took Aranea along with me since they were so much alike (both Dunmers, both mages, both worshippers of Daedra). I ended up really liking her, and the one time she died, I did reload to get her back. I also had to backtrack quite a bit to find her when she got lost during Meridia's quest. I wouldn't bother for some random follower, but for a favorite, absolutely.

Oh, I should add that I have reloaded the Thalmor Embassy quest many times when Malborn and Etienne died. I feel more responsible for them than I do actual followers, and I feel like I've failed if I'm unable to protect them.

Get a mages guild follower. You immediately get an alert when they die. (alert as in a nasty gram from the mages guild that you killed a member!)
