Imperials or Stormcloaks, what one?

Actually it does, if they aren't fighting in said war. If the war is between two others, the Thalmor can gather more resources for themselves. You know, in Summerset Isle? We have no indication as to what kind of numbers the Dominion has at it's disposable.

the thalmor will be fighting someone always. it's their evil nature.

the empire vs. the nords will not help the thalmor unless certain circumstances are in place.

the empire vs. the nords is probably what will help the empire and the nords. it will get them cooperating properly and a concordat mentality will be washed away from the minds of the weak.

The Empire is weak? Say what? Was it not the Empire who managed to drive out Dagon, a Daedric lord? And what government system is not corrupt in some fashion? You're a bloody imbecile if you think there is no corruption within governmental systems.

the empire, at the time of this game, is very weak and corrupt.
unless i am very mistaken. hey, dagmar? lol.

that's not even a point to debate since it's assumed, i assume, lol.
all info points to that truth.

c'mon man, yes, all governments have corruption within them. THAT is not the type of corruption your argument implies. we all know there is corruption within government. ok.

you using corruption within government as your stance is foolish.

Yet the Elves do not want a stormcloak victory either, likely because of the fact that they do not want a repeat of the treaty of Stros M'kai

Again, the longer things get dragged out in Skyrim, the better for the elves. That's why they want neither side to really win.

i completely disagree. people state this point of view on its simplicity and without factual and intimate knowledge of what is true. it's a nice theory.

like i've said, more time means more time to think and reunite cyrodiil with skyrim.

It's not the Empire against the Nords. It's the Empire against the Stormcloaks. I'm not even taking you seriously anymore, since clearly you haven't even retained basic information from the game. Anyone with half a brain playing this game would have noticed Nords fighting alongside the Empire. Go through grade school and play the game again, then come back in here when you actually have some understanding of what you talking about.

i can't say i trust Either Ulfric or Elisif to run Skyrim efficiently but my "Harper" agent guy, who is siding with the TG will aid the empire to hopefully become the Behind the scenes ruler. Elisif seems easily swayed unlike Balgruff.

and yet the Dossier on Ulfric in the Thalmor hands states that neither side being victorious is good for their ends.

The same dossier also states, to my recollection, that an Imperial victory would weaken Thalmor presence/position in Skyrim. Let's not forget that point, which is something I think most everyone wants - to see the Thalmor weakened. In fact, from the text itself:

Ulfric's death would have dramatically increased the chance of an Imperial victory and thus harmed our overall position in Skyrim

Just sayin'.

PSA: Sorry if this is dreadfully late to the party, just saw the thread's evolution now.

yes, the empire is fighting skyrim. yes, skyrim is full of nords. yes, the empire is surrounded by its weakness.

you should be taking notes.

Gentlemen please, let us not descend into insulting one another or treating each other like Battle-Borns and Grey-Manes.

The doctor is right in that the Empire has an equal share of it's own supporters within Skyrim. Again, I ponder and dread what sort of actions someone like Galmor might take after a Stormcloak victory. As I've stated before, he strikes me as the type who might just purge Skyrim. Personally, I have some real issues with the guy. There could even be a mass exodus, much like after the American Revolution when many of the loyalists fled to Canada. Sure, things worked out for us Americans, but we didn't have the Thalmor breathing down our necks.

The Markarth Incident lays a frightening president to what Skyrim would be Like under Ulfric as King.

Here's a quote from the Elder Scrolls Wiki which summerizes the contents of the book "The Bear of Markarth"

Reports vary, but it is said that every official who worked for the Reachmen was killed, even after they had surrendered. Native women were tortured to give up names of Reachmen fighters who had fled the city. Anyone who lived in the city, Reachmen and Nord alike, were executed if they had not fought with Ulfric and his men when they breached the gates. Ulfric supposedly even ordered the deaths of shopkeepers, farmers, the elderly, and any child old enough to lift a sword that had failed in the call to fight with him

And you want to just hand Skyrim over to this piece of work. Granted, I'm no ally of the Forsworn, but Ulfric went too far in persecuting fellow Nords whose only crime may have been not to get involved. what's to say he wouldn't do so again.

Skyrim may deserve independence, but now is not the time, and Ulfric is not the right man for the Job.

exactly. history starts now and not in a book.

you either believe in me or not.

you live or die by my sword, now.

however, ulfric's own quotes within the game trump. and, disregarding this mythical markarth incident ulfric is proven to be a man of honor and heart.

that book is likely there to paint Ulfric as a monster, just the madmen of the reach, which was written by the same author, paints the Forsworn as an actual people.

since, it is obviously well read, as of right NOW, absolutely i think it is a propaganda tool.

I stand by my convictions. Ulfric, who is nothing more than a disgruntled veteran with a bone to pick at best and a power hungry monster at worst, is not the right man for the Job, nor is this the right time for Skyrim to break away from the empire.

maybe not, but i still do not trust either candidate to be in charge.
  1. Elisif is too easily swayed to be able to handle the role of high queen
  2. Ulfric is to war-mongering for the job

Don't even start on the Markarth incident, my friend, because you're about to lose this one for even attempting to point the finger game at Ulfric :)
Skyrim:Forsworn - UESPWiki

Igmund, the son of the deposed Jarl, and the Imperial Empire, made a promise to Ulfric Stormcloak and a group of Nord militia in 4E 176 to allow free worship of Talos in exchange for putting down the rebellion and retaking the Reach. Igmund knew this promise was in direct violation of the White-Gold Concordat, but wagered the Thalmor would not discover it. Ulfric led a Nord militia against the Reachmen and used the Thu'um to shout them from the very walls of Markarth and then drove them from the city. Captured Reachmen were brutally tortured and executed by the Nords, with the few that were spared being imprisoned in Cidnha Mine.”

It goes on “The surviving Reachmen fled to the wilds of the Reach, creating what would become the Forsworn. Their leader, Madanach, was secretly imprisoned in the Cidhna Mine by Thonar Silver-Blood in an attempt to leverage control over the Forsworn. When the Thalmor discovered the presence of Talos worship, they demanded the arrest of the Nord militia. Igmund was forced to arrest Ulfric and his men or risk outright war over religious conflict. The Nord militia were eventually allowed to leave, but Igmund's broken promise left a fissure that would eventually widen into the Stormcloak Rebellion. The Forsworn still remember the cruelty of the Nords who deposed them, and seek vengeance against all Nords as a result.”

Try to figure this one out.
