Ulfrick working for the Thalmor!

Going throught the Helgen scene now... Arsennious is feeling sad on how his Imperial comrades are so easily beheading their own kin...

WHO YOU CALLIN' RENGADE, BIATCH

It's okay, you get a pardon from Tullius himself. He says it was probably just a misunderstanding. Ulfric calls you a bloody criminal and you shared the cart ride with him. "So long as your criminal past stays in the past, and you fight for me with honor and integrity, we'll welcome you into our ranks." - Ulfric

Tullius mentions it was a terrible misunderstanding :)

The Empire needs to say goodbye. They failed. I feel that Skyrim should take care of Skyrim and High rock needs to take care of High rock, and Cyrodiil needs to take care of Cyrodiil. It gives the Aldmeri Dominion much more work to do to become the next rulers of Tamriel.
Yes, I agree that the empire has run it's coarse in Skyrim at least. They don't seem to contribute anything, just seem to be allowing the Thalmor to capture and torture Nords for suspected Talos worship mind you. This can only bring about deep resentment from the Nords and that pressure valve has to be released one day. Such behaviour will not go unpunished. Not a matter of if, merely a matter of when a rebellion would begin...enter Ulfric Stormcloak:)

High Rock is a separate province. Skyrim could be a separate Province I have no clue why they're not. Black marsh is a separate Province. Really only Cyrodil, Morrowind, and Skyrim are Empire owned territory. I have no clue about Valenwood though.
Skyrim was fighting a civil war during TES Oblivion. No it's been like this for a long, long time.
Please cite your sources that support the notion that High Rock is no longer part of the Empire and that there was a civil war going on in Skyrim during the Oblviion Crisis.

Only thing I know about High Rock was Wayrest was lost in 4E 188.

There hasn't been a Civil war since several hundred years before the Oblivion Crisis which was the War of the Red Diamond between the Septims.

If the Empire goes, what about the thousands of Legionnaires sitting on the Aldmeri Dominion border? The Soldiers of High Rock and Skyrim, are they all going to return to their lands and leave Cyrodiil to fend off two Aldmeri Dominion lands connected to Cyrodiil? Most of the Cyrodiil Legions were wiped out. Once the Empire is disbanded the Aldmeri Dominion will have it easier, the provinces do not work together unless the Imperials are making sure of it through Imperial Authority, they would simply wage war with each other and the Aldmeri Dominion will just walk in, be so much easier since the massive army threatening them will have disbanded leaving the handful of Cyrodiil Legions which took the most losses to fend for themselves.

Empire is gone basicaly. Morrowind is of almost no consequence, a barren wasteland
Skyrim is used for manpower and silver
And empire does everything to protect Cirodil only. As soon as imperial city was threatened they surendered.

The Empire is not gone, they control a massive amount of area, Skyrim is the most important area in the Empire currently, it's position connects High Rock to Cyrodiil. The Empire does everything to protect Cyrodiil only? In what way was Skyrim threatened recently? They have never been invaded since the Second Era which the Legions came to their aid against the Akavir. Cyrodiil is the seat of the Empire and it was the front lines in a war, Legions were in Hammerfell fighting also because they were front lines in battles, Skyrim was never touched in the Great War. Cyrodiil took a massive assault, every single city was taken with the exception of Bruma. You should also read up on the Great War and Fourth Era because they do not surrender when the Imperial city is threatened, the Imperial City was besieged by hoards of undead when Titus Mede the first was Emperor, they didn't surrender. The Great War the Imperial City was more than threatened but actually it was taken over, the Aldmeri Dominion took the Imperial City and then offered the Empire a chance to surrender, the Empire still didn't surrender, they had lost the Imperial City and was offered peace but they didn't take it. They rallied their forces and wiped out every single Aldmeri Dominion soldier within Cyrodiil, Titus Mede II captured their General personally and he was kept alive hanging from the White-Gold Tower. That was known as the Battle of the Red Ring.

'Titus II led the assault from the north, personally capturing Lord Naarifin. It is rumored the Emperor wielded the famed sword Goldbrand, although this has never been officially confirmed by the Imperial government. An attempt by the Aldmeri to break out of the city to the south was blocked by the unbreakable shieldwall of General Jonna's battered legions.
In the end, the main Aldmeri army in Cyrodiil was completely destroyed. The Emperor's decision to withdraw from the Imperial City in 4E 174 was bloodily vindicated.
Lord Naarifin was kept alive for thirty-three days, hanging from the White-Gold tower.'

'Although victorious, the Imperial armies were in no shape to continue the war. The entire remaining Imperial force was gathered in Cyrodiil, exhausted and decimated by the Battle of the Red Ring. Not a single legion had more than half its soldiers fit for duty. Two legions had been effectively annihilated, not counting the loss of the Eighth during the retreat from the Imperial City the previous year. Titus II knew that there would be no better time to negotiate peace, and late in 4E 175 the Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion signed the White-Gold Concordat, ending the Great War.
The terms were harsh, but Titus II believed that it was necessary to secure peace and give the Empire a chance to regain its strength.'

The Empire did not lose the Great War, they didn't surrender. They went for peace to rebuild and regain strength for the next Great War. Disbanding the Empire is not the way to win the next Great War, the Aldmeri Dominion is three provinces. Cutting the Empire into pieces leaving only Cyrodiil will only achieve the Thalmor goal of harming the Empire, they want to destroy the Empire because they know it can beat them, the Empire defeated the Aldmeri Dominion once before. The provinces will never work together, they hate each other the Imperials are the only ones that make them all work together as one. The Nords can barely work together, let alone other provinces. The War of Succession is a testament to that, 50 years of Civil War and they never recovered fully. The one thing the Thalmor can count on, is that once the Empire is gone, the Provinces will never work together, Cyrodiil will be an easy take and Skyrim will simply be easy slaughter, one thing you can count on is Nord stubborn pride. They will take their entire army and simply be slaughtered by masters of the arcane and the best archers in Tamriel. Nords are magic fearing these days, few fireballs will have them sorted out.

Yes, I agree that the empire has run it's coarse in Skyrim at least. They don't seem to contribute anything, just seem to be allowing the Thalmor to capture and torture Nords for suspected Talos worship mind you. The Empire doesn't contribute anything?

"Because the Dominion is a sleeping beast that Skyrim cannot slay alone. Because many Nords are part of the Imperial army even now. Because the food and resources we get from the Empire are important to our people. Because even if we can't openly worship him, Talos the god was once Tiber Septim the man, and this is his Empire." - Sybille Stentor

I would say feeding the population counts as contribution.

Wonderful, but how is the empire feeding Skyrim??? The landscape is dotted with farms and fertile lands. Hardly Morrowind! The Imperial City could be obliterated and the Empire crumble, yet the Nords of Skyrim wouldn't starve, so they're certainly self sufficient in that regard. Not to mention the silver rich Reach. Ulfric himself comments about how the Empire can no longer rape these mines when you regain the hold from them. You see, you may be right in what you say about the Empire overall, however the point I make is different. I'm putting myself in the common Nord's shoes. Imagine you are a farmer in Falkreath, peaceful and dedicated to your family. Your childhood friend and neighbour lives in a property close to yours with his family. All of a sudden he is whisked past you in irons by a Thalmor hunting party. They warn you not to interfere and when you ask his family what he did they tell you that he is suspected of Talos worship....He never returns. Are you just supposed to be cool with that because the Thalmor have demanded the Empire to demand you to be cool with it? I guess certain men could but not me. The Empire has failed this man and hundreds like him. How are his neighbours then traitors when they rally against these injustices in order to protect their families. The real enemy is the Thalmor, and the Empire needs to grow a pair and fight again. At least a few brave Nords have the courage to fight albeit suicide or not.

The farms in Skyrim actually struggle by due to the climate, only Rorikstead always does well, the fertile lands of Cyrodiil are the best suited climate for things Nords require, they used to raid other provinces, Falkreath was actually once a part of Cyrodiil so it maintains that similar climate.

The Empire never enforced the ban on Talos, putting yourself in the common man's shoes the Thalmor issue only came up because of Ulfric. Now being a commoner you actually wouldn't of taken much notice like many Nords, they didn't care about the treaty they just worshiped in secret. "We didn't pay much attention to it when I was a boy - everyone still had their little shrine to Talos. But then Ulfric and his "Sons of Skyrim" started agitating about it, and sure enough the Emperor had to crack down."

The Empire is preparing for war with the Aldmeri Dominion and this does take time, they can't possibly fight a war while they face a Civil war. The Stormcloak rebellion is helping the Thalmor, the Thalmor even give indirect aid to the Stormcloaks to keep them fighting because it delays the Empire from attacking them, the Legions don't have a strong presence anymore in the other provinces since the main Imperial Army is on the Aldmeri Dominion border which shows they're actually nearly ready, why else would the Thalmor stir up trouble in Skyrim now after like twenty six years. "Most of the Legion is tied down on the border with the Aldmeri Dominion. The Emperor can't afford to risk weakening Cyrodiil's defenses. From the Imperial City, our war here is just a sideshow. An interlude before the main event against the Thalmor resumes." - General Tullius

Without the Nords, there will be no main event, certainly none that the Imperials will win. The Empire is actually, albeit indirectly enforcing the Talos ban in Skyrim by allowing the Thalmor to operate there, sewing the seeds of discontent as you mentioned. The Stormcloaks simply want the foreign invaders of their land gone. Skyrim could be independent if a high king could be crowned after the moot. Forget the inevitable second war with the elves for a moment, for I believe the common Stormcloak soldier doesn't want to invade Summerset Isle, they simply want the atrocities in their own backyard to stop and be able to worship who they choose. The Empire denies them this and thus makes it easy for Ulfric to use this situation to recruit his army. Now I'm not saying that Ulfric is the great saviour, far from it in my opinion but he does inspire Nords fight. It might be right for the Empire to keep the status quo so it may galvanise itself. However, how is it right for Nords who are suffering in the meantime? They cannot be expected to care about the bigger picture whilst the Thalmor have free reign, much like the Gestapo in WW2. Let Cyrodil and it's Empire do as it pleases. Skyrim should also have this right. Fight well, or die well:)

Skyrim accepted the terms of the treaty, people blame Titus Mede II for the White-Gold Concordat but he can't make the treaty by himself, the rest of the Empire had to accept the treaty, Titus Mede II is probably one of over a hundred signatures on that treaty, the exact terms of the treaty Titus Mede II had NO control over, the only power the Emperor has is the power of Veto. Now Skyrim accepted these terms, they had the chance to become independent but they didn't take it? Why not? Why complain about something 26 years after it happened? Many of the population have grown up with the treaty in place, nearly thirty years has passed. It isn't something that happened last week or the other day, nearly thirty years have passed. Did you know High King Torygg greatly respected Ulfric for what he said during Torygg's moot about an independent Skyrim, he wanted to hear more and would of been Ulfric's greatest ally, Ulfric returned to Solitude and the Court assumed he was going to ask Torygg to declare independence, everything could of been done peacefully. Hammerfell left the Empire because it didn't agree with the treaty, they didn't battle the Empire. So the Empire is hardly the tyrants, Skyrim had the option to leave 26 years ago, and then had the chance to do it peacefully through Torygg. Ulfric wants to be High King, why else would he kill a man who could be his ally, why would he wait until a new King sat on the throne when it was Torygg's father who accepted the treaty not Torygg. That is because Torygg's father was well respected and Torygg was new, but Torygg made the mistake of respecting Ulfric and thinking Ulfric cared for Skyrim's future not the throne of Skyrim.

Let Cyrodiil and it's Empire do as it pleases? But the war isn't Imperial Cyrodiil vs Skyrim. Skyrim is fighting a Civil war between Nords, there are many Nord legionnaires, Skyrim is torn in half between East and West, you're forgetting that the other half of Skyrim is against Ulfric and the Stormcloaks. The Empire is made up of all races, not just Imperials. There was even a Dark Elf Empress in the Third Era.

"This is what you wanted? Shield brothers and sisters killing each other? Families torn apart? This is the Skyrim you want?!"

How exactly would Tullius know it was a misunderstanding? For all he knows, you could be a rebel.

Because if you were a rebel you would hardly be joining the Imperial Legion. You were mistaken for being an accessory to High Treason which the punishment is death, which is why you hear Lokir asking the Stormcloaks to say you and him are not with them.

Though also the Stormcloaks are not very crafty. Nords lack how we say, subtle tactics.

If you were actually thought to be a rebel, then you being there would raise suspicion. Maybe you're a spy? Things like that. Or he would ask why you were switching sides.

Which shows me that in Helgen, Tullius knew you probably weren't a rebel. He could've easily thrown you in prison instead of allowing you to be executed.
