PS3 Companion problem

Hello guys/gals

I am have a problem with companion. I don't have a companion following me around at the moment however when I ask someone to join me they say looks like you have someone with you already. Did anybody else experience the same problem? More importantly what is the solution? Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Were you previously accompanied by a follower? If so, they might have just gotten stuck somewhere, which happens quite commonly.

If not, then I'm as confused as you.

did you tell them to wait for you somewhere?

the above two possibilities happen a lot. however there is a third. If you are working on the companions quest line, there are a few of their quests where they will join you and replace your current follower.
If you were watching for this and tried to get another follower, you won't be able to get one.

I have two suggestions: 1. try to fast travel somewhere, if the follower has been lost they usually reappear after this. 2. if you had instructed the follower to wait for you, eventually you will see a message stating that they got tired of waiting and you will then be able to get a new follower

I can tell you that I have used Lydia only since I started playing. The times when I got a message saying " Your follower has been replaced" ( because a quest character had to join me) then she was waiting for me in Whiterun when I returned and she was not my follower anymore - I had to rehire her. BUT because I am her Thane she was doing guard duty in my house.

I'm having a similar problem. I was doing some quests for the thieves guild and didn't want Janessa following me, so I told her to wait in the flagon. Upon completing the quests, I couldn't find her. I searched all over Riften, Whiterun, and the Drunken Huntsman (saw online they are supposed to return to where you hired them), but I still can't find her. Anyone else with a problem with her? Does she go anywhere else?

Guys I did everything suggested here in this thread? I tried fast travelling somewhere no one showed up. However whenever I do fast travel somewhere shadow mere is always there with me. So does he count as my companion? If not I am 100% sure I do not have another companion can someone please help me in solving this problem.

I'm currently haveing the exact same problem, i will tell you if i find a way arownd it. if you succeed in resolving this problem the please let me know, i would be very appreciative.

Have you guys tried sleeping/waiting for a couple of days.. In my experience with them if u leave them in say riften and there origonaly from say whiterun they will walk back to there origonal town.this may take a couple of days/up to a week of game time depending on where you left them and where you origonally hire them.

Ok this happened to me when I did a the companions quest with farkes and he went to the tomb to wait for me but he counts as a follower. Check what quests your doing
