Hey guys and gals,
Just curious what everyones favourite part of the map is.
I love the scenery around the Rift and the hot springs. It gives the game a sort of tropical feel.
I love the view you get if you stand on the cliff that overlooks the springs, Windhelm and beyond can be seen from it
 
I'm a big fan of the plains of Whiterun Hold. Wide open spaces, you can see game miles away, and there's not a lot of Locations to get in the way. A lot of room for growth, when I get the CK, the first thing I build will be a Motte&Bailey fort for hunting out of. Kind of a Ranger's Guild, if I learn to code believable NPCs, a wood framed tower (3 storey) and palisade wall around it with some shooting platforms around the corners. And Sabercats, lots of them around the area to compete for game.
 
I love that look when I slice Nazeem's head off. but I also think that the view you get when Meriada raises you into like a few miles above Skyrim and tells you to cleanse her temple. that was beautiful. But not as beautiful as Nazeem's head under my boot.
 
There's a bit on some road either on the way or going from Riften, or possibly Markarth, where you can see the sun rise between two mountains and all the mountains below them, found it so beautiful that I took a picture of it on my phone. :D The hot springs area is really unusual, because I'm always wondering what the temperature is supposed to be around there, is it balmy? Humid? Especially the different cities too, Solitude, (from what I gather) never sees any snow, Winterhold hardly sees any sun (unless you Clear Skies the place because you're fed up of all the damn SNOW) and just the other day it was snowing in Whiterun. First time I've ever seen that.
 
I've never seen it snow in Whiterun and I've racked up some hours. It'd be interesting
Also when climbing up that winding path to get to Ivarstead for the 1st time, the view overlooking the plains to Windhelm is also amazing, almost able to see Winterhold from there too. Almost the same area I mentioned in my first post, but more towards the eastern part of the cliff
 
My favorite are the mountain peaks. Gives you a great view of Skyrim's landscape. One of the simple things to see in the game.

That too. I came across a party of three hunters all stripped down to their undergarments and seems like enjoying the hot water. I spoiled it as I was on the run from a Giant.
 
I love the outskirts of Riften, the autumn scenery is beautiful and I just generally love it! I also like it when you can see the Northern Lights, I've never gotten used to how gorgeous it looks <3 The appearance of the moon(s) is something I really like as well, and then my favorite (Which isn't really scenery)

RAIN ON WATER. The rain on water in this game is so pretty ^_^

I came across those guys too, unfortunately they got killed by a dragon. :(
 
More than once, I was passing through,(I know right where it is) and thought "that looks pretty nice," so I stripped down to my skivies, and too a quick soak. I RP deep immersion, so if the character in my head is Kvetching about being tired, and achey after days of adventuring, I treat them to something nice likeat. Of course, have the courtessy not to kite in Giants, Sabercats, Dragons... It's just Rude!
 
After being able to purchase it, the view from your house in Markarth. Can you say near vertical? Really makes you pay attention on your way up or down. For me, down is usually the problem. It'll be like, "Damn, knew I shoulda turned that corner sooner," while seeing clearly the ground rise up to greet your scrunch. Prior to said descent, I like to gaze at the city, and watch all the activity happening down there. Then I like to look out over the city's walls at the landscape beyond. You paid for the view, might as well enjoy, right? :)
 
Yeah, I use Become Ethereal all the time in Markarth. It's just the quickest way to get around. I know it well enough that I don't run into surprises, but when I was still relatively new to it, I had to save all the time (or just duck in, and out of doors to autosave) because of all the falling damage. Now, I know where to Wuld across, so I don't have to go down, and back up. It's the funnest city in Skyrim, you ask me. As an added bonus, I get plenty of Letters from a Friend to tell me where to find Word Walls.
 
Markarth is such a cool sight because of the sheer scale of it and how it is built into the mountainside. The Dwemer's architecture is a wonderful sight. What I wouldn't give to live in the guard tower in the central area.

The lost vale, Eldergleam, and all of the other outdoor and natural dungeons are really beautiful to me. I also love the look of Blackreach, what with the giant luminescent mushrooms and all.

As far as the sky goes I love the purple aurora above Bard's leap summit. I also love to look up to see the unearthly huge moons, they look so unrealistically close, as if they're entering the atmosphere, but that's ok because it's a fantasy game and they look fantastic.

That's awesome, just today I discovered that I could whirlwind sprint from the guard tower right onto the front steps of Vlindrel Hall. I wish that Calcelmo's workshop and that whole overlook was more easily accessible (rather than having to climb all throughout the museum and dungeon to reach it).
 
The north coast, between Broken Oar Grotto, and Northwatch. (And west of that, I guess, but there's nothing there.) Mountains, wild/sealife, some interesting caves, and ruins, just a fun little area to explore. Usually about the time I'm supposed to be rushing to the Thalmor Embassy, I do a sweep of the area, bail a guy out of his prison, kill some Blackblood Marauders, see what Potema's up to these days, and clean out Fort Hragstead for some friends in Castle Dour. If you know who to talk to in Solitude, you can hit a bunch of pretty lucrative quests in one trip, then go see what those wacky Elves know about this new Dragon thing...
 
I always liked Winterhold. The whole gloomy, gray town destroyed and dishonored, living in the shadow of The College. Has a very ominous feeling to it. Perfect for my vampires. :)
 
My two favourite spots are the countryside around Riften and Sovngarde. The fall colours of Riften give me that really cozy feeling of a crisp fall morning, and Sovngarde is just.. well, you know. I've only seen colours like that in a melted crayon box. I wish our sky was that pretty and majestic.
