Forget Dragonborn. I'd rather be Giantborn or Mammothborn.

On my first play through the game, I encountered some giants and mammoths at a camp. I saved my game and tried some hit-and-run tactics to take down the giant. One hit and I was dead. However, on one runthrough, I took a little while and then a dragon came down from above. At first, the dragon tried to attack me, but then he started attacking the mammoths and dragons as well. Within seconds, they returned that poor reptilian beast back into legends.

Can you imagine how easy the game would be if you could wield one of those giant clubs and just send your opponents flying? Or transform into a giant mammoth and maul your opponent to death with tusks? Don't get me wrong; some shouts are cool looking, but in rock-paper-scissor-dragonbreath-dragon shouts-tusks-giant clubs... tusks and giant clubs take the money.

I agree with Larkie, when you are at lower levels, giants seem tougher than dragons. But, as you progress the dragons are much stronger than anything else in the game.

I've never had a character who's level was crazy high, but i have a hard time contending with frost dragons.

Dragon encounters will usually be with a dragon close to your level. Their levels are 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50. Giants and Mammoths have fixed levels of 32 and 38 respectively. When you are close to level 40 you may start seeing Elder and Ancient Dragons snatch Giants and Mammoths off the ground and kill them.

You only see them when you are roundabout level 35 as RavevnnaGrimoire said He/She hasnt played a character on a high level , However dragons and Giants are strong but i have come accross some Vamps and Mages that has detroyd me and elder dragons are weak against my character L68 Khajit Warior i am also with my new character L20 Nord Sneak Archer (Ranger) having more problems with Vamps and Mages than with dragons , however not rave enough to take on Giants yet

I'm level 22 and I have no problem taking Giants. But it has to be one at a time.
Easy way to kill them is Ice Sparks/Frostbite then when I run out of Magicka I attack with my duel wielded swords, when I sense danger and my health get's low, I use the Slowtime shout, Ice Form or Unrelenting Force.
At lower levels, killing giants is hard, but it is possible. Just find a place that the giant can't reach and attack with bows or magic.

I found dragons to be more troublesome than giants. Giants are stupid and can be killed smartly, Dragons on the other hand can be annoying as hell. I just hate stubborn dragons who don't land, and sometimes when they do, they land somewhere you can't reach easily. fluffing Dragons

I found very powerful Necromancers to be harder to put down than any dragon.

I'm level 1. My character has a Forsworn bow upgraded to Legendary quality and an Archery skill of 70+. I can take down a giant ... eventually. Wouldn't want to try a toe to toe slugfest. I've watched my follower get launched a few times. It's ALWAYS a rush to take one on. Whereas dragons are mostly just annoying though I can be killed by one if I'm not careful.

I wish Skyrim had a Hand to Hand skill like Oblivion. Would be fun taking on giants bare handed! (After few Skoomas of course)

Necromancers I just bury my Daedric battleaxe between their eyebrows. If they are powerful with their magic you just have to get close enough to hit them, and if you have your heavy armor all the way up with decent magic resistance and your two handed all the way up, necromancers are dog food.
