ok, so im a lvl 17 dark elf assassin. i quest, i kill, i smith and enchant but the highest amount of gold i've had is 4k or around there. My friend is lvl 18 and as of right now he has 20k. i honestly don't know what i'm doing wrong. i rarely buy either. i don't want to glitch neither. any help or ideas?
 
are you picking up things when you explore? if so what kind of things? the more you sell and get your speech up the better prices are when selling items... just food for thought... food mmmm :)
 
its worked for me, i take all my stuff to the thieves guild and sell it to Tonia (spelled that wrong mybad) but im not sure on details..
 
also when you marry someone they set up shop sell stuff and you get $$$ that way to if you are willing to go down that road
 
Keep an eye out for any weapons enchanted with Banish. Banish enchanted weapons sell for the most amount and the value doesn't drop a lot based on the size of the soul you use to bind the enchantment.

There is also Transmute spell tome you can find from quest area near Whiterun (any number of quests assigned by someone from Whiterun may direct you there). Transmute allows you to turn iron ore into silver ore and silver ore into gold ore which you can then use to make gold rings at the blacksmith's forge. This is a more profitable way of leveling smithing than making iron daggers unless you have the Banish enchantment, especially if you place a fortify skill enchantment on each ring.
 
If you want a QUICK level up in speech go to Rifkin and talk to this Elf in the meadery . Use persuade to give you information about the owner. You will get speech increased after that. You can repeat this dialogue over and over again and get speech increase level ups. It's a glitch but if your speech is way low you can use it .
 
In solitude, where the guards shoot targets, you can pick up all their arrows and sell them. This doesn't make much money but it helps if you need arrows. Another thing you can do is just chop wood. Sell it to any firewood accepting NPCs. Examples-Hod at Riverwood/Owner of Bannered Mare. You make 5 For each log, and if you do it for a long while until you are deeply overweighed, you can make quite a large sum of gold. Per instance, I did this and made 500 gold in 10 minutes. Takes a bit of patience though. Your speech goes up too when you sell them. Hope I helped!
 
go to rifkin and walk outside the area until you come to the bandit fort. you get a lot of gold by killing the bandits and taking off their armor/equpment and selling it in riftkin. Wait a few days and you can go back to the fort again, and all the bandits will have respawned and you can kill them again however much you want and loot their corpses and sell off their stuff. Helps to level up as well.

Also there are the vampire nests where all the vampires will respawn as well after a certain amount of time and you can kill them again and again to get the loot and sell it off. Just explore around.

Regarding vampires, stock up cure disease potions because you can catch vamparism curse and become a vampire though.
 
Ya know I can't seem to find Hod in Riverwood. I find his wife and everyone else, but he seems to never show up at the saw mill.
 
Also you speech goes up faster if you sell things one at a time rather than selling all 50 daggers in one shot.
