How to get back into Skyrim and what new character build to go for

Skyrim

Master Thief and Assassin
I haven't touched Skyrim for months now, I got bored of my current character, but now I want to play it again. I'm probably going to start a new character and was wondering which build to go for e.g 2h, mage, battlemage etc. I've already played a stealthy character, so I want something new. Also, I completed most of the main quests on my other save, so how could I make my new one fresh?

Thanks in advance.

I'd just look at the skill tree and look at skills you haven't used much and try to think of an interesting way to make three or so of those your primary skills. I also got bored of Skyrim and did something similar, which is why I recommend it. I chose archery cause I never used to that much aside from sneaking and replaced melee combat entirely with the werewolf form.

A warrior set up.
Heavy Armor / 1 Handed / Block / Archery

BUT

I would say. AND it is tough. BUT

Male High Elf with Max Weight.
Heavy Armor / 2 Handed / Block
( You tower over people and feel like a BADASS )
Rough start though.

Mage I just go Heavy Armor and Dual Cast Spells.

Those are your major skills i listed, i always use smithing and enchanting.

What about a spell sword? Recently I just went back into the game and decided to do something I never really did. I used illusion magic and one handed weapons. It is fairly interesting to see half your enemies standing around like dolts while their buddies are cut down by your enchanted dwarven sword.

Or putting an entire den into utter chaos and jumping in at the last minute to finish of the stragglers and line your pockets with their equipment. Maybe even dabble in some alteration and raise the armor rating of your already impressive heavy armor. Possibilities are quite endless when spells and weapons are inter-changeable.

For reference sake, dump 2 points into magicka, then 1 into health. You can ignore stamina by using veggie soup. Perk progression is completely up to you.

Thanks guys.

I enjoyed Dawnguard, so it Dragonborn worth getting?
Yes, definitely. Especially for some sort of spellcaster, they added a bunch of new magic/items for that style of play. A Light Armored Spellsword, or Heavy Battlemage with Conjuration if you want to build specifically for it.

Thanks. I hate having low stamina though. :/

As a spell sword you don't use stamina for power attacks so often. Usually you would depend on the strength of your enchantment or destruction magic to do damage. Stamina is only for running, which can be substituted with a horse.

People's styles differ, I use Critical Charge, but pretty much only while my Magicka recovers. Then I hang back, and spam bolts while my Stamina recovers... It really helps to have Wind Walker, and actually, the Lady stone. The trick is running down your Stamina alternatingly with your magicka so that the other recovers at the same time, instead of standing there, and depleting yourself completely. That's how I maintain endurance so long with such a build. It also helps to be a Redguard, or Altmer.
