I can't figure out my collecting obsession.

I'm at level 83 and have over a million gold and more stuff than I could ever possible sell, but I'm still collecting stuff!

Ingredients - I cannot not take it from the bodies of my victims and buy out every store I run in to (at least I've stopped picking flowers!). I have a barrel packed full of hundreds of items in each of my homes but rarely do alchemy and never use what I make. I have either a barrel or cabinet or drawer full of 100's of potions I'll never be able to sell. And that leads me to Elswyr Fondue - I already have 130 of them, why do I have 150 wheels of cheese, 1500 bottles of ale and 800 moon sugars? What, am I going to open a bar that serves snacks or maybe start making skooma?

Ingots and ore samples - At this point I have 1,352 iron ingots, over 1000 ore samples, 1,500 steel ingots, 800 ebony ingots and even 650 Orichalcum ingots (I never work in Orcish). While I do make jewelry occassionally, I still have almost 1,000 gold and silver ingots... and that leads me to...

Gems - hundreds and hundreds and hundreds in every home! Everywhere! Regular, flawless, you name it! It's insane!

Leather - okay, I'll admit that I always tan my hides, pelts and skins to leather, but, yesterday, I decided to grind a little smithing (I've legendized it 1/2 a dozen times so far) so I collected all I had lying about from all my homes and took it to Whiterun. 1700! leather and over 2000 strips! That's insane! And yet, I have to take the skin from every animal I kill and buy every one I find at a vendor.

Soul Gems - really? Do I really have to buy every one on sale and take every one I find? I have over 100 filled black soul gems and many hundreds of other filled ones and always carry around at least 50 of each kind unfilled when I travel and have a stash of 100's of spares in each of my homes. Okay, so I use enchanting as a grinder and have legendized it almost 20 times so far, but, really, where am I going to sell my inventory of 2200 banish enchanted daggers?

While I've managed to restrain myself from collecting weapons, armor or worthless crap anymore on my travels, I still need to take every goldpiece I find, every gemstone and every piece of jewelery. Did I really need that 3gp from that earn? Why do I need another silver ring that's only worth 30gp? Just how much bling does a girl need?

So folks, what do you OCD continue to collect even when you have absolutely no need for it?

Your a looter, simple as that. It is a common disorder of rpg players. This might bloom more in the upcoming Destiny game.

i know how you feel its just so hard to pass up on that one iron sword even tho i do have daedric weapons, you never know when a good old fashioned iron sword will come in handy.....i collect everything but mostly weapons. i never leave weapons laying after a fight for 1 of 3 reasons. 1. im afraid someone will use that weapon against later on and 2. im sure il be able to use it(and i never do) or 3. it just rubs me the wrong way to leave anything behind

I tend to have a similar problem. My main character is RP'ing a sort of Benkei Musoshiba character (famous samurai who accompanied the famous Yoplopssune Minamoto)(I'm a history nut) who is on a journey to find and master every type of weapon and piece of armor their ever was and seeing as how many varieties there are I hoard quite a bit.

Its shameful but i almost always are over encumbered and have WAY to much money. I have every single house and no matter how hard i try i cant find anythingg. And i am only level 49!!!!! This is where it would be nice if the game would let us give people nice things and money. Like the farmers whose farm was destroyed by a dragon....I had almost a million septims, and I could give them...5. Lame-o.

Who doesn't over collect soul gems? Even though I know that I will probably take the time to actually go out into the world and kill things to fill up the thousands of millions of soul gems I have that are empty, I still have no plans on actually going out and putting to use the 350 Gran and Greater soul gems I have sitting at home in my chess of things I will never need. Such as my swords of Iron which I have about 25 of, steel with a whopping 50, and the rest of the other high class weapons have about 10 each. And then I have a special sack where I keep the flowers I come across and cant help but to pick because I have gotten so use to it, and finally my safe with about 300 each of every type of ore, including Quicksilver, also, 1435 Leather and 2512 strips of leather, and about 1500 Iron, 700 steel, and the rest have about 500 each. I have probably legendaried(Not even a proper word) the skill at least 10 times.

You know you'd be charging the jarls a small fortune to upsmith and enchant all their guards' armor, so they're the strongest jarl in Skyrim...until the next chest of gold shows up anyway.
