Imperials or Stormcloaks, what one?

Even thieves, merchants, and mercenaries, like me, have to pull our heads out of the sand to make the best decisions.

This is true, esp when that which is closest to you is at stake. Sometimes love causes people to do crazy things. When the heart gets fired up, right/wrong/reason need not apply.

Hey, no problem. I meant no offense bro-ham. I don't think anyone on this forum wants to see the Empire dead, it's just the Stormcloaks feel that they have no other alt but to fight. All I'm trying to say is it's going to take more than a Civil War to actually win back Skyrim.
If anyone could do it though... it would be Tullius and Rikke. *Peace*
"It matters little if some of the people here are ignorant to that truth. They are still citizens of the Empire. It's our solemn duty to protect them." - Legate Fasendil

Great. In addition to Baalgruuf, I couldn't bring myself to kill Leg Fasendil either.

I dunno... well yes I do know :) I can see it for what it is both ways.

Many Nords don't view the empire as a problem that is why both sides are even the empire is using troops from the local holds that openly support them. And since when has being short sighted a virtue?

I was hoping for the second thread battle royal..but all I see is a fool's errand towards a massacre. Can't get good coin off something so one sided.

If you're a mercenary, then the Empire is the way to go. The Empire employs and offers large imperial contracts to mercenaries.

which is why I use RP over Lore. Makes things clearer.

Yes it do. To an extent, they're supposed to work together. You RP you know... "whatever you are" and then match against Lore. Yeah, like a red dot in a blue background or some kind of thing.

TES isn't like some of these games, you get to put your signature on the evolving lore they create. People react to it in diff ways, it's designed that way. Sometime no one comes out right or wrong or it's inverse.

Best thing to do is just be yourself and go with it. Everyone's not going to approve, I can promise you that. And you never know, even if the Empire wins, some good could still come from the Stormcloak rebellion, or if Stormcloaks win, it could produce some positive results as well. It would def shake up the system. Count on it.

Of course, perhaps now is not the best time for change. I mean, the damage from WGC has been done and the Imp cities seem like they're doing well. In my game, I let the dice roll and gave the Empire another chance. Wasn't disappointed. Because while the Emperor & his administration and prob the Elder Council are more than likely all at odds and have it out for each other, Skyrim is getting what it needs, Gen Tullius and Rikke who seem to care.

And that's why I couldn't bring myself to kill them. Even Tullius in the end says he's willing to sit down around a kitchen table and talk to the Emperor about the real Talos mistake which was banning Talos to start with.

However, the biggest redemption for this Empire comes with the prospect of receiving a new Emperor... in order for pl*ps to go right again, TMII is going to have to go. Now, the DB is a natural shouter and has the respect of majority of Nords so, you get the DB on the throne as Emperor and all the B$ will stop there. Going to need a new Emperor with new ideas, new thinking and someone everyone will respect or at least look up to.

TMII may have saved the Empire, but he tarnished his image forever. It's admirable, though in the end he acted like a true Emperor of Tamriel and a true son of the Empire by throwing himself under the bus so there would be an Empire left for a new Emperor to save. But the "Ultra Conservative" crowd amongst the Stormcloaks will never see this for what it is and then you got plp like Heimskr running his mouth in Whiterun of all places, crying about how bad pl*ps is when EVERYONE actually has Freedom to worship Talos in that hold. Until the Empire moves in, but they were invited in.

Maybe that's the saddest most fl*ffed up part of all about this thing. The people who had freedom to worship Talos had to give it up, in order to protect themselves from the people trying to free them so they could worship Talos. Now, even you've got to admit... there's something VERY WRONG with that picture.

Then again, I'm Thalmor so... I hate all of you equally. MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

Na just kidding. Although the Thalmor are fighting the Stormcloaks too, so... perhaps the Thalmor are divided over this. Maybe the Dominion is really trying to help the Empire except there's an enclave of Thalmor who are supporting Elenwen's agenda to help Ulfric in bringing down the Empire.

NENALATA: I do not "compare against lore". I use lore to back up RP choiced. If I am siding with the Empire, do I really need to know why the rebels (Not Ulfric) are fighting, or the lore that supports them? No, same thing with the rebel side. Lore backing up RP, but RP comes first.

That's fine with me, however I tend to view this as RPing thru Lore. Of course, Lore in TES is to a certain extent subjective and what happens between events is left for us to sort out. Now I will say this though... the TIMELINE is the outer limits of Lore. You can't argue with that although you could argue around it. Anything else is fair game.

not the events, maybe, but that what I look at. The Imperial/Stormcloak bias is not in the lore, but the person looking at it.

Correct. Good and Evil is a point of view and is subjective to circumstance.

Shame Season Unending couldn't be a complete peace. Ulfric is King of his half, Elisif is queen of her half. Stormcloaks get independence, Empire still has access from High Rock to Cyrodiil. Thalmor can cry in the corner because mankind is no longer being played like a chess board.

I dunno... well yes I do know :) I can see it for what it is both ways.

Ulfric was too cowardly to even face Jarl Balgruuf in the old way. In both sides of the Civil War, Balgruuf challenges Ulfric to face him like a man. Can see how that ended...

Ulfric can kill a so called 'boy' King, but refuses to face Balgruuf?

"I mean it's time to challenge Ulfric to face me as a man, or march his Stormcloaks up to the gates."

"If Ulfric wants to challenge my rule in the old way, let him. Though I suspect he'll prefer to send his "Stormcloaks" to do it for him."

"Skyrim was betrayed, the blood of her sons spilled in doomed struggle against fate. And so in death, too late, I learn the truth - fed by war, so waxed the power of Alduin, World-Eater - wisdom now useless. By gods' jest in this grim mist together snared, Stormcloak and Imperial, we wander hopeless, waiting for succor." - Ulfric Stormcloak

Yeah when you win as the Empire Thalmor Justicars and Inquisitors can freely walk the land and imprison and torture Talos worshipers, but all that is fine for Empire players as longs as the stupid dark elves and lizards get fair treatment.

There is no way I'll even agree with that.

That is due to the game not advancing further. The Civil war is technically still raging on either side's victory. The Thalmor will simply go back to being very limited in their ability, when the Empire has a major presence they can't do as they wish, walking where ever they want.

I suggest you head to Markarth while it is under Imperial control, you will meet the head of the Thalmor Justiciars in the Keep. He will actually ask you to break into a Nord's home to find evidence of Talos worship since the Jarl won't call for his arrest. The Thalmor can't do as they wish.

"Ogmund the skald. He's old, respected, and I know for a fact that he worships Talos in his home. But the Jarl has been hesitant to call for his arrest. I want you to break in to his home and find evidence." - Ondolemar

The jarl doesn't call for his arrest because they don't have proof. When you give them proof, the Jarl will have no choice but to Ben Dover and send the man to his death.

You just proved my point. They can't touch any citizen of the Empire without proof, which is why those who worshiped in secret were safe.

"We didn't pay much attention to it when I was a boy - everyone still had their little shrine to Talos."

Thank you.

Due to the White Gold Concordat, which was loosely enforced by the Empire until the Stormcloaks gave them no choice by rallying their cause around it.

Fact is, the war will never be won. The elves will continue to struggle, in vain, to prove superiority over the race of men. If the Dragonborn did manage to reunite Tameriel, it wouldn't be for the sake of war. But peace, in probability, he would also re open the collage of the voice just as Tiber Septim had once tried. With his defeat of Alduin, he would most likely also be named High King of Skyrim, taking Elisif as his bride. But again, nor the Imperial Legion or the Stormcloaks will ever invade The Summerset Isle.

The Thalmor are a much larger threat then most here would care to admit, for most are not even admitting the fact that the Summerset Isle is not the only piece of land that the A.D. has under its belt. They are spread out and have numbers, if there is a hope for any real victory for the Empire or Ulfric's Stormcloaks, then they most first reclaim lost ally's, such Hammerfell and Elsewere.

Hating to say this, but for the moment, the A.D. Is the most powerful force on Nirn

The Thalmor Justicars are in Skyrim because we have no choice. The Empire accepted a treaty, which was the best thing to do back then. They were weakened and they could not win from the Dominion.

What do you think the Empire should have done? Carrying on, knowing it is pointless, until the very last soldier gets slaughtered? Carrying on until they (the Dominion) killed all the women and children? It was chosing between two evils, and this option spared most lifes and actually gave the Empire a chance to regain strength and prepare for a second war.

Sometimes you have to take a step back before moving forward, and sometimes it gets worse before it gets better. Even though it is frustrating, the only thing the Empire can do at the moment, is accepting the Thalmor . Fair? No. But life is unfair and you have to do whatever you can to make the best of it. People should start to realize that we couldn't beat our enemy and therefor are now dependent on their mercy. It is naive to think they would treat us with silk gloves. Of course they would do something radical as banning the worship of Talos. Unfair? Hell yeah, but temporary.

And: "all that is fine for Empire players as longs as the stupid dark elves and lizards get fair treatment. There is no way I'll even agree with that". What do I read there? Taking out your anger on a group of innocents that never harmed you? "I suffer and therefor you have to suffer more"? I hope you realize that something as weak as taking revenge on innocents only to take out your own anger has no place in politics. Just because Talos got banned, doesn't mean that racism OF ANY KIND can be justified.

19 of my family members got dragged away to Auschwitz and Sobibor in World War II. That was unfair. Does that mean I can now discriminate other people? If you do that, you basically do the same you accuse the Thalmor of. And guess what? It is just as wrong..
