Journal of a Vampire

Sorry to hear of your loss Shongo ugh what a bitch.. I too lost my Bosmer archer (368hrs) and the beginnings of Virhalla (lvl 25ish.) But.. even though it sucked, it made my new playthroughs much more planned and thought out, not to mention how it refreshed Skyrim for me. Hrisskar took the revenge-seeking Nord warrior as far as it could possibly go with amazing writings, so I think you should consider a race you haven't played, or even a Volkihar offshoot.. wern't there other vamp races mentioned in the book Immortal Blood?. The Morag Tong Assassin journal is an excellent example of finding a niche, (props Fedave!) and I'm sure all races have some interesting historical points that you could find a good plotline within. I too had major reservations about playing a vampire.. but having first been a necromancer, it made it special and the story of her kinda writes itself for me now! Vamps are hard because everyone has pre-concieved ideas about what'll happen, but I think you were definitely doing a good job, but it's a hard mold to break through. All he needed was that extra something, something that made him different then the holier-than-thou classic vamp. Honourman's characters all got me thinking, they are unique in small ways, check it out in his post a little ways down in my story's thread. Good Luck, looking forward to see what you come up with. :D

BTW, TamrielsSavior, my character is something like what you've suggested here, and as an ardent fan of Fadave I'd be greatful to see what you think of her if you find the time.. pls? ^.^

Yeah i like a lot of what you guys are suggesting and I really like vampires so I think I will stick to that. I want to do a very evil type character though. I really like Dar-Shein but I am really worried that if I do another vampire who finds his journal or something I am going to be writing like I was with Dar-Shein. I feel as long as I am doing vampires I am going to end up being a lot like Dar-Shein so if I do a vamp I think it will be a Dar-Shein reboot. I like what silence is saying about making him more unique but I don't know how to change it up in this next playthrough to get him going. I also might do something not so stealthy. Obviously as a vampire i need stealth but that doesn't mean I can't crack some skulls. I am looking to differ combat-wise as I said before I have done just about every stealth character possible and would like to spice it up. Any idea's?

Okay I have a brilliant idea but I really want the special umph part of it to be a surprise. I was thinking about what silence said about needing that extra special thing and I have it. It will be perfect I think and to clue you guys in a little without spoiling anything it will be Dar-Shein but he will be taking an extra interest in Conjuration that if I do it right will add the perfect extra kick (its not normal conjuration I am changing how Dar-Shein will be interacting with the atronarchs and things). Also he will be doing very little (if any at all) necromancy so the fact that he is doing conjuration doesn't mean he is using necromancy. Sorry for this delay but will probably have one the day after tomorrow because tomorrow I am super busy and will not have time for much except maybe in the morning. Idk I'll just do it when I can so if anyone has any ideas that they would like to put in this is your last chance before I make my final decision.

P.S. It will be on this same thread as I don't want everyone to have to change over to a new thread and i dont want to accidentally leave anyone behind because they accidentally missed a post that shows the new journal. I will just change up the thing at the top a little (although it will show that little special thing that I was talking about) and he will still be a vampire so It wont matter too much for the title.

P.S.S. Does anyone have any suggestions to differ this even more. So far I will be doing some Conjuration and Sneak are the only 2 confirmed. But I'm wondering what else should I use? Should I use the bound weapons in Conjuration? Should I be more magic combat or weapon combat focused? I cannot decide yet and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Personally, I think you should go for a totally new character and gimmick. When I lost the memory for my character, I luckily wasn't too far in and didn't do anything major. You have, and I'd love to see something fresh. Mainly because I'm not a fan of vampires :p But my personal views.
Sorry man I'm loving the vampire lifestyle too much :)

Some unique things that come to mind:

- Have him not like the taste of some races :P That'd add some sense of depth.
- Creep on a settlement. Be that 'trouble' that's been bothering and spooking the town for weeks. (Ex. Don't enter Riverwood until night, and when you do, go into the town and kill/feed on someone. Do this for a few weeks until the town is dwindling in numbers. Basically, be a serial killer :D)
- Have a signature outfit/weapon (please please please name your weapon!) If your going for the 'serial killer' gimmick I mentioned earlier, this would be freaking awesome (in fact I may steal it at some point in time...)
- Have him befriend some people. Have them know your secret or not, but I can imagine it'd be a cool story element.
That's all I can think of for now.

Thx!! I've been following you closely Eastwood, would be grateful to have you as a reader!

Shongo, I wanted to let you know that in order to level Conjuration skills naturally, a bound weapon is pretty much the direct leveling method (as well as Soul Trap) so it's a great idea. Also, having a skull cracker/magic user you'd be wise to decide your path to leveling early, because only certain combinations complement eachother. On my new primary Virhalla I started her as a warrior, and after learning the fun of Dead Thrall I switched her to magick only, which left me with wasted perk points in warrior-centric skill tress that I don't use anymore making her secondary choice of leveling Destruction magic take longer. I'll post some more details too. :D

Using conjured weapons in the beginning will help level conjuration faster, then switch to real weapons, and named weapons rule!!

Definitely restoration, for respite and necromage perks. With magic regen robes, simple healing spells will fill your health and stamina pretty quick in the daylight.

Also, I would role play killing most people that you feed off of, kind of like you are still learning how to do it correctly, have no one to show you how and horrible hungers. If you aren't supposed to be a new vamp, maybe there is something about Skyrim that is making your hunger much worse and uncontrollable, like the dragons!

I really like what your saying here although I can't only go into places at night and I am not going to be a serial killer (although I will definitly dabble in it) also the befriend people is what I am implementing with my secret. I am very excited for this!

Yeah i know most of this already but was just wondering so I think I'll go sneaky mage using conjuration and sneak as my primary and then I will dabble in enchanting, one-handed, light armor, alchemy, and archery. Since I only have 2 primaries I think I can afford to dabble in some especially if I prioritize. I will probably use the bound sword until I can get assassins blade and then ill start going daggers. I am going to be dipping into the atronarchs and summoning things quite a bit though as it is a large part of my difference in this playthrough.

I really like the idea's in the third paragraph but I won't be using any restoration as it is stated in the top of the page thing that restoration is holy and harms undead creatures (vampires) also I think it would make it too easy using restoration. I may tie my hunger into dragon priests though as I think that would give me a reason to hunt them down and they seem like as super powered magical creatures they seem like they would disrupt the worlds balance more than they do.

Okay so this is a quick recap of some stuff doing differently
-Primary sneak and conjuration
-Secondary alchemy, enchanting, one-handed, archery, light armor (the one-handed and archery are more if I decide to do that)
-Dragon Priests disrupt Skyrim which messes with my hunger making me a less powerful vampire.
-Special Conjuration Surprise
-Definitely naming weapons as I also love to do that :)
-Won't feed on own kind and possibly other bad-tasting races
-any other things I forgot

Okay I as it seems no one else has any big idea's of things I should do differently I will TRY to play tonight and post but it will be a challenge as I am really busy today and tomorrow. Right before I post I will change that thing at the top and I suggest reading it first as it will clue you in to some changes I made and things like that. I hope you all enjoy this and I am still open to changes if you post before I play :)

just updated the backstory and rules for my new playthrough about to put out entry 1 (btw there is only like 1 new rule)

ALSO YOU MUST READ THE BACKSTORY TO UNDERSTAND THE NEW ENTRY AS YOU WILL BE HEARING A LOT OF JACK WHO YOU WON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT UNLESS YOU READ THE BACKSTORY AND STUFF

Woohoo, Dar-Jack! I mean Jack-Shein, errr, well, not really sure what to call him, but glad to have him back!!
lol yeah I was thinking about having things were you could see Jack had edited it but I may save taht for the future. I am about to post another one but I decided to do that as the first one because for some reason I felt it fit the story better for him to experience Helgen the way it happened. Also any thoughts on it compared to the others? I will be doing more jack in the future when I can actually conjure stuff. Jack is kind of going to be the order in Dar-Sheins chaotic blood lust

Jack is like his Spidey-Sense. As far as losing his spells and abilities, you could play it off as Alduin recognizing the dragon-born and wanting to prevent him from destroying him so he uses a dragon shout to reduce Dar-Shein to an infant vampire again, stripped of his knowledge and powers.

In general, I like it. Pretty good concept of the split mind/personality leading to conjuration.

thanks I was hoping you guys would like it and I am exciting to see more people read it. Also I am putting him losing his powers under the whole dragon priest thing but for a time Dar-Shein thinks it is Alduin. Also yeah Jack is like spidey sense also I don't know why but I gave the newest entry a humorous spin, tell me how you like it.

P.S. I made Jacks handwriting look like this in case he messes with the journal pages. It is supposed to be like a spirit color as if Jack reached out and actually touched the page P.S.S. look at how many inappropriate times I said also in this. I feel like an idiot

Ok going to bed will try to get some more out tomorrw but I am pretty busy. Also please everyone tell me how you like the new direction as I am experimenting a little to see how I should write this.

good night ;)

Overall, the writing is good. But a few things are bothering me. It's mainly these kind of lazy reasons for losing your powers and stuff. Silver chains, really? The bear broke all your armor and weapons? I'm pretty sure it'd break every bone in your body before your leather armor breaks. Also I'm pretty confused on how Jack came to you. If he 'saved' you, wouldn't you not be a vampire?

Otherwise though, the backstory is pretty cool, as well as the quirks you have planned. Your writing has gotten better too, as I've noticed.
