I'm already Thane, and have done the quest and killed the vampires, but I don't remember the Jarl mentioning it. I'll have to check again. I could have just missed it. I'll talk to the steward.

I am sorry bro, the Jarl does not mention that to you. Once she makes you a Thane, talk to the steward and ask him to sell you a house and he will tell you they do not have houses but he can sale you a piece of land and you go from there.

Oh, okay. It's the heartfire dlc. I'll get it after I do the download. moving this week, will get them when I can get back to the game.

I'm not a fan of Morthal itself, but that dreary little place is home to one of my favourite Jarls in Skyrim (and I refer to Idgrod, not whoever the Stormcloak-aligned one is), so I suppose it's not all bad.

Pretty much all the snowy towns/cities on skyrim are depressing to me, I don't care for morthal, windhelm, winterhold (I'll go to the college though), dawnstar. Nords are supposed to be well adjusted to the cold but apparently they don't enjoy it because everyone is depressed and pissy in those places it seems. I think part of it has to do with technological short comings too, snow is beautiful in real life, but on skyrim I prefer to run south where it's greener.

It gives me the creeps, standing on the jetty at night with all the fog surrounding the town. I avoid Morthal when I can, place is just eerie.

I go there for Falion, there's something about that guy...he's seen Dwemer....

If I need a follower I like to get Benor from Morthal, for early on. You just have to brawl with him, so he is really easy to get.

Idgrod is pretty cool, if a little dour and blunt. Then again, some of the others are so wimpy that it makes her look good. At least we know that she cares about her people.
