My Horse Hates Me.

As was written before here - arvak best horse for me (apart from shadowmere).

Why?

Firstly, because it will never ever die cause it is already dead ) You can just summon it again (Magicka cost of spell is small so even warrior can do it).
Secondly, you can summon it almost anywhere. Helps me a lot when I'm carrying to much to run so I just summon this guy and that's it.
Thirdly, pal look stylish.

And! Since I'm playing on PS3 I have no opportunity to install mod for "Horse Whistle" so summoning Arvak helps a lot. I was pissed by horses walking away

Shadowmere is the superior horse. All other horses are inferior

Dude, no doubt. But when you exploring some dungeon with big enough space to summon Arvak and you carry to much (since my battlemage can't carry too much) then it is more usefull then Shadowmere which is left near the entrance. I like to use Shadowmere when I need to feel myself important )

Yeeessssss!!!!! The gods have smiled upon me for killing my horse and I have finally located a set of boots of muffling that I can disenchant. :)

As I was making my way cross country the other day, suddenly, at my side appeared a beautiful Pinto, fully saddled and willing to bear me. Well, being the fool that I am, I mounted him and off we went. Suddenly, wolves!

Jumped off my horse and quickly dispatched them and looked back for my horse, but away he'd wandered. Being in a hurry and not wanting to give chase, I gave up and continued on foot.

As I topped my next mountain, who should be waiting for me on the path down, but the same horse. ?? Since he was there, and I was a bit footsore, I rode him on down the mountain until we ran in to 3 (count 'em 3!) sabrecats. I quickly dispatched them, of course, but, to my great dissappointment, my appearing and disappearing stead had been killed.

Oh well, I thought. There goes another one, what's that now, 9, 10? So I continued on my way. AFter running across a group of bandits and their cave hideout, I cleared it out and proceeded to exit the cave to continue on towards Markath and my meeting with the Daedric Prince I'd come to love in the Horror House and present him with the priest he asked me to get for him.

As I started up in to the mountains again, lo and behold, but, guess who was waiting for me? My dead horse! Yikes! I nearly peed myself.

On the plus side, I have a horse that likes to follow me around that I didn't buy and that will wander away as soon as I dismount for the first time, but, apparently he's undead! In the last 2 days he's been killed by sabrecats, a snow bear, 2 trolls, bandits, a dragon and, believe it or not, a Whisp Mother! Yet he keeps coming back.

A boy and his undead horse! Could life be any better?

lol you can never rely on horses from the stables, they're friggin retarded. As everyone else said, Shadowmere is da best horse on da game bro.

I had the same situation, but a different reaction. Artax was lost to a storm in Windhelm.

Haha, my horse is called Artax too :D
I guess we both cried at the scene were he drowned in the swamp :( Just love The Neverending Story :D

Horses in Skyrim have different personalities. Some hores fight alongside me while others are litlle sissies.. I had this problem before. Since you can not sell a horse I Fus-Ro-Daht mine down a hill.

I've noticed that the black horse you can buy at the Whiterun stables never runs from an enemy, even a dragon, unless she's low on health. The palomino you buy in Haafingar is pretty much the opposite.

I currently have a pinto I bought at Markarth, and the only enemies she runs from are dragons. I accidentally "parked" her right next to a Sabre Cat (those things are masters of camouflaging!), and she attacked it before I even saw the danger.

Of course, horses' braveness may not actually have anything do to with coat colours (and probably doesn't), but this is what I've observed. :)

Hmmm... interesting. I still want to know what's with the fully equipped horses just standing out in the middle of nowhere with no one around that you can just ride for a while and they'll wander away just to appear again.

I actually ran in to 2 more last night and now I have my undieing one (the pinto), a real pretty bay with a scarlet saddle and a huge black one that keep showing up (usually when I need them the most!). I actually had all 3 show up outside one of the redoubts just before i quit for the night.

Just plain weird. Maybe I'm a horse whisperer or something. Lord knows it couldn't be natural since I'm clanking around in Dweemer armor all the time.

I always, always find the exact same black horse just up the hill from Anga's Mill when I'm doing the "A False Front" quest for the Imperials. It's one of those free to ride horses that starts wandering back the moment it's dismounted, yet fast travels with me.

I know there's a Random Encounter event where you'll find a "free" dapple grey horse next to a dead bandit. Maybe the other horses are like that as well, only without the dead bandit?

As a relative newbie, I had no idea about that. Hmmm... Let me know if you run in to more. On another note - has anyone run in to the friendly sabrecat yet? He's up to the NE of Markath when you head off to get the Ice Wraith kill to join the Stormcloaks. He followed me for a good time and ended up following after my wandering horse (another one of those free rides) when I had to ditch 'em to swim.

Maybe he and the horse knew each other? Maybe their friends and grew up together after the horse ran away from the Markath Stables as a colt? Just a thought. Hmmm...
