You'd think so, but logic has a way of not working with me.
The site should automatically put any thread you start in your watch list, or it should at least. So either it's the site or it's you. I know from experience that this site has it's moments and quirks. However, I don't know you well enough to know if it's you or your logic. But I'd put money on it being the site.
