Private [ROF] Rise of the Falmer

Geel brushes against Emberlynn as he stumbles through his own darkness. He notices that heat is given out by that most curious a blade. Through his thick scales, even he was able to feel the warmth as coming from the metal.
"wh...What's that?" He asks, pointing in the direction of the dagger. Was that a trap? A exploding bomb, a mind corrupting artifact? Maybe it was going to turn into a Falmer! Geel had learnt never to trust magic, especially ones from tombs and ruins. trusting them always ended in messy deaths

Rale stayed behind to guard the altar outside. He thought of ditching the group and going to an inn or brothel, somewhere to spend his coin. Instead, he just waited as the winds grew harsher and stronger.

After a good half hour, he noticed in the distance a great beast, rocking left and right as it moved. A mammoth, which meant giants were nearby. His heart sank and his eyes widened. He couldnt kill a half dead giant let alone a group, with mammoths. He vaulted over the altar and crouched down, watching intently as the herd grew closer and closer. He pulled out his bow just in case, better safe than sorry.
As the creatures moved forward, Rale noticed the entire groups members, three mammoths and two giants, each one carrying a sack of mammoth cheese. He narrowed his eyes, and pulled up his mask and hood.

By now the herd was about thirteen metres away, with every step they took Rales confidence shrunk. They eventually walked past the altar, leaving Rale relieved that this wasnt the day that he would die. But just as Rale regained his composure, he felt a presence behind him. He turned around and saw a giant staring at him, as if looking into his very soul. Rale miscounted, there were three giants. It swung its club and Rale barely dodged it.
His heart pounding, he stabbed his sword into the giants foot, who immediatly kicked him away in anger, leaving Rales sword stuck in the hairy limb. Rale pulled out his bow and knocked an arrow into place. He fired it into the towering monstrositys shouder, the giant barely noticed and kept thundering towards the assassin. Rale panicked and threw his dagger at the giant, it bounced off and landed with a thud on the grass.
"Bastard." He quivered. He turned on his heel and sprinted away from the giant, who was in no hurry to lose its next meal.
Rale ran around the altar in circles attempting to confuse or tire out the giant, it wasnt working. Rale had to think on his feet. He turned around and pulled out his bow, knocking an arrow into place. He fired it at the giant, and it became embedded in its forehead, which didnt make the giant happy. It let out an ear splitting roar and charged faster. Rale knocked yet another arrow into place and fired it, this time he hit his target. The giant clutched its eye and fell over the altar. Rale pulled his sword out of the beasts foot and took out two arrows, he left the third arrow in the giants eye as a reminder and spat on the blind creature. The giant was roaring in pain, but looked like it was gaining its strength back. It rolled onto its back and slammed Rale with its club. Rale was knocked in the air and crashed into the ground, unable to breathe. The giant grabbed Rales neck and picked him up, studying him. It dropped Rale on the ground and slumbered away. Rale wasnt worthy of a quick death.

(LOVE the epic Rale vs. Giant battle... Hahahaha too bad it didn't end too well for poor Rale though... :p And like I said in the OOC thread, I guess we can just say Rale got locked out or something :) )

Instinctively, Emberlynn pulls away from Geel. She feels extremely uncomfortable around the strange Argonian, and dislikes it when he gets too close to her. She is thankful that his lack of sight prevents him from seeing the slight discomfort on her face... After all, he has done nothing to cause her to dislike him, but his bizarre mannerisms and the strange liquid he constantly drinks makes her nervous.

"We don't know for sure that it's anything bad." She tries to comfort him, peering down at the blade in her hands. A tiny part of her feels nervous about the unusual energy coming from the weapon, but Emberlynn finds her nerves overcome by her curiosity, and she moves ahead of the others, continuing down into the darkness.

It does not take long for her to reach an apparent dead-end; the way ahead is blocked by an immense stone carving in the wall, much more detailed and intricate than any of the other unusual runes they had seen previously. A similar but smaller carving lies in front of her on the stone floor. Cautiously, Emberlynn puts out one foot and steps gently onto it, but nothing happens.

With a small sigh of relief, she continues forward, eager to examine the unusual wall blocking their path.

Nothing bad? Sure, people said that when the emperor had his wedding. Guess who popped in to say hello then. Geel notices some stuff about Emberlynn though. Without his sight, he had become attuned to the voice and faint movements of people. The way her voice tilted at the end, it was as if she tried to keep her distance. This was further proved by the slight shuffle away from him, barely noticeable yet obvious in the blackness he lived in. He pondered this, and his tail twitched. Perhaps Rale was right. His very race would be his downfall, the oddity among the others.

Geel examines the wall with his palm .It is cold, and as his fingers slide down it's mossy surface, he fears touching something repulsive. but damp and darkness caused the carvings to erode, too far for him to read with his sense of touch. He curses loudly, and took several long gulps of skooma. He hoped his senses might have become more acute after drinking it, as it sometimes did. Alas, all it did was make the world sway and rock. His feet buckled unsteadily, and sound was distorted.
Suddenly, he fall on his feet as the rocking continues. Damn the skooma. But as the rumbling grows stronger, he tarts to think if there was real danger. THe dagger, the wall? No... If he heard correctly, which was unlikely in his current state, the sound came from somewhere back up the altar. His heart skipped a beat, and he gripped the ground hard as the thundering crashes above grew closer.
" Emberlynn....Do you hear that? " He gasps. Perhaps it was merely him, merely his skooma. Merely his mind. He feared being called insane, but was that .... trumpeting in the distance? Rale's voice.... Geel's brow furrows as he struggles to concentrate above the din and confusion.

Alistar also hears the faint rumble of the Giant, and his eyes narrow as he clenches the hilt of his blade tightly. "We need to hurry." He says lowly as the group continues moving, the hall eventually funnels into a wide, circular room where glowing mushrooms and vegetation light up the area with a dim, blue hue.

We descend a small set of steps leading to an altar set into the wall, a dagger shaped, ornately crafted piece of metal set into the stone. "I think the dagger is some sort of key."

(wait, so did we somehow get past the weird wall that was blocking us?? Maybe we can pretend the weird wall is the thing with the dagger-shaped hole :) )

Emberlynn steps closer, and the dagger in her hands grows even hotter -- she almost has to drop it from fear of burning herself.

Feeling uncertain, she gently slides the dagger into the opening, and literally holds her breath, waiting to see what will happen...

(Sorry, brainfart, I really need to start paying more attention. Yeah, let's go with what you said.)

The circular, metal lock sinks further into the wall and rotates 360 degrees. There is a terrible, grinding noise as the stone wall lowers into the ground, revealing a stone room with a hollow, malnourished looking man chained to the walls by his wrists. He's breathing in rasply, short breaths.

"Who comes to my sanctum? Look away, do not loathe my undignified and feeble state." He says in a voice which sounds as if his throat is as dry and dusty as any desert, he looks up, revealing piercing red eyes. "Get back, he's a vampire." Says Alistar while holding his sword ready.

(Oooh cool, a vampire! :D LOL When this is all over, Emberlynn is gonna have to go over her grandfather's journals and figure out why he had marked this area on the map... there's gotta be a story behind it :p)

Emberlynn retreats backwards several feet. "A vampire?!" She asks in disbelief. During her childhood, she had heard many stories about the fearsome blood-drinkers who fear the sun... but she had never even been certain they were real, let alone come face-to-face with one.

She draws her flame-enchanted sword and peers at the creature, nervous. "W-why are you here? What is this place?" Her voice falters slightly, but she does her best to sound brave.

(Okay, off to my friend's house for the night. I'll probably come back every now and then from my phone to post :p)

Rale lay there on the ground, barely able to breathe and coughing up blood. After slightly catching his breath, he rolled onto his front and started crawling towards the altar very slowly with one hand. He finally reached the altar and sat up against it. He looked across the vast plains of Skyrim and took yet another deep, heavy breath. He enjoyed the wind on his face, its harsh cold cooled him down after his previous fight.

Memories of the terrifying ordeal popped into his mind, how the giants grip on his neck had choked him, the fright he had when he saw it staring back at him, and of course, the shellshocking blow to the chest he recieved courtesy of the giants club. His mind reflected on these images for a good while, but then, more disturbing thoughts entered his head. His childhood, his career as an assassin, and his adoptive fathers murder. He remembered the assassin standing over his fathers corpse, a bloodied knife in his hand. His tough time at Grelod the Kinds orphanage in Riften. How the kids beat him up everyday and Grelod made him do painstaking chores that were comletely unneccesary, but he knew she just made him do them to put a smile on her wrinkly old face. The many people he killed for some shifty rich person, just to make sure he had enough to eat every day. He may be rich now, but the mental scars are something money can't remove.

A rabbit ran by, and sniffed the air. It bounced towards Rale and rubbed its head against him. He reached for his dagger to amuse himself by killing it, but stopped. The rabbit looked at him with caring and affectionate eyes, as if it knew his past and problems. Why should he kill an innocent creature, when someone like him walks the world. A greedy, selfish, bastard. He deserved to die more than this rabbit.
He sat there and stroked the rabbit and half-smiled to his new and only friend.

The Vampire's mouth stretches open, his parched lips curl back revealing glistening fangs. His grin makes Emberlynn shiver. "I'am known as Asgothlan, I'am a stalker of the night, predator of the unwary, drinker of maroon." He begins coughing violently, his tangled and black hair falls over his face in strips as he hacks and weezes.

"600 years I've walked this plain, basking in the warmth of blood and fear. Many decades ago the one with the surname.... Ice-Mane cursed me to this sanctum for eternity." He begins chuckling evily. "I'm quite thirsty."

Emberlynn's eyes widen at the mention of her grandfather's name. Her mind races as she tries to remember any mention of this in his journals, but her surprise at having a real, live vampire mere feet in front her has clouded her thoughts.

Mustering up all of her courage, she takes a step forward. "Thirsty, are you? The great Rigmand Ice-Mane had banished you to this sorry existence, and here you will stay."

She narrows her eyes in disgust at the monster, yet feels a strange thrill of excitement... She had heard and read so many f her grandfather's stories, but here was real, tangible proof that they had been true

(on phone, no color... Sorry!)

[Somewhere on the open road between Whiterun and Dawnstar]

Geminus Sierrus, riding his recently purchased horse from the Whiterun Stables, is heading north from Whiterun to get to Dawnstar. As he's riding and enjoying the beautiful weather that Skyrim is having he thinks to himself, "What a beautiful day for a ride!" Then contiues his thought of the past year since his arrival in Skyrim and setting up his post in Solitude.

First there was the months of riding carriages to the major holds making arrangements at all the taverns for room and board for his fellow brothers and sisters of the Order to have a room when ever they were in town. "The innkeepers where very pleased to make a room available for the coin I paid," he thought to himself.

Then there were the odd bounties he'd taken to keep himself in fit fighting shape and make sure his skills didn't slip. He even took up some archery lessons with the Imperial Soldiers at the castle in Solitude. "I think those soldiers were amused to see a fancy Knight fumble the arrows at first, but weren't they suprised at how well I picked up the skill!" He laughed at himself thinking about the first few weeks with a bow.

Then came the reports of more dragon attacks. The World-Eater, Alduin, had resurrected a dragon right behind the Kynesgrove Inn. The folks in that mine were surely surprised to find out there had been a dragon buried so close. Although, after visiting the site, Geminus couldn't figure out how they didn't know it was there because of the distinct mounds that are the burial sites. "I bet they were more surprised when the Dragonborn showed up and with the help from one of the last Blades, a woman named Delphine, they defeated that dragon," mused Geminus.

In the following months there were more dragons resurrected and each time the Dragonborn was there to put it back in it's place for good. Absorbing the soul of each dragon to make it permanent. This eventually led to the Dragonborn capturing a dragon and riding it to a site way off in the mountains to the east. "Can you imagine what it'd be like to soar above the mountains and valleys!" Geminus thought out loud.

Finally there came the reports that the Dragonborn actually went to Soverngard, alive! Where upon he gathered many of the fallen Nords and they defeated Alduin before he could destroy Soverngard.
"What a sight that must have been, to see the fallen comrades again and with them defeat the World-Eater!" Again thinking out loud.

"What a year it has been," thought Geminus, "and now there are rumors of something unnatural causing the earthquakes in the region. I wonder if the Order in the other provinces of Tameril are having such an interesting year. I must remember to write mother back at the Priory and ask."

Through out the year Geminius had used the services of the carriage drivers. Pleasant fellows if a bit talkative. He finally saved enough of his own money to purchase a horse. It wasn't like he didn't have money. His accounts back home were plenty full and the monthly stipend sent from the Priory was a good bonus, but most of that went to the various holds for the room rentals and the upkeep of the two houses. His and the one in Whiterun that is now owned by the Order. Even if he had to maintain it. HIS money came from the bounties and other services he provided in the last year. It was much nicer riding by himself in the clear air.

Meanwhile as Geminus pondered all these evemts, several miles had ticked off and he was coming around a bend in the road. As he did he saw one of the more amazing sights in all of Skyrim. Mammoths! Being herded by Giants. There were three of each. They were passing by a large rocky formation down the road a bit further and it looked like they were going to cross the road. Having heard the stories in the taverns about encounters with giants and mammoths, he wisely decided to stop where he was and let them wander past.

"What the..." Geminus said aloud. One of the giants had stopped by the rocky formation and was looking down at something. The rest had kept going and crossed the road. All of a sudden the giant swung its mighty club and there was a started yelp. "Hey someone else is there," Geminus said to noone in particular and continued to watch but nudged the horse into a slow walk. As he watched the giant let out a roar and kicked at whomever was there. By now Geminus was close enough to see that someone was indeed there and was in trouble of becoming minced human for a giants breakfast. It was a bit difficult to make out who the person was because of the dark leather armor they wore.

Spurring the horse to a quicker gate, He began to approach closer. Being aware of the other giants at the same time. Now he saw that the person in trouble shot an arrow in the shoulder of the giant who promptly swatted it away like it was a bug bite. The giant started to rush the man, if you could call the giants long stride a "rush", and Geminus could see that it was a young Nordic man now. The man threw a dagger, quite poorly, at the giant and it just bounced off the giant. So the man just yelled "Bastard" and sprinted off away from the giant.

At this point it was almost becoming comical if it wasn't so dire. The young Nord was running around what looked like an altar of some sort, while the giant just stepped from one corner to the next. "I think he's trying to tire the giant out," thought Geminus, "but that's not working, the stride of the giant in nearly the same as the hieght of that man. This isn't going to end well."

Geminus was now close enough to make an attack. The other giants and the mammoths had kept going and were oblivious to the fight taking place. So, he halted the horse and dismounted. Tying the lead to a branch he unstrapped his helmet from the saddle and settled it on his head, then he pulled his shield off his back and took a firm grip of it in his off hand. Then he pulled out his sword. It gleamed polished and shiny in the midday sun. He then started to approach the fight, trying to sneak up on the giant.

As he made his way as quietly as he could to the fight, the Nord backed away from the altar a short distance and then fired a pair of arrows. "At the same time! Impressive," Geminus thought, "will have to have him show me how he does that." The arrows flew true and buried themselves in the giants forehead. It roared so loud Geminus was sure the other giants had heard. Then the Nord put an arrow into the eye of the giant. This resulted in another roar as the giant clutched at his eye and tripped over the altar landing face first on the ground. That's when Geminus noticed that there was a sword in one foot of the giant as the Nord was trying to pull it out. He succeed and even managed to yank the two arrows in the giants head out, but he left the one in the eye. "Probably not a bad idea, even though the giant will probably never see out of that one again anyway," thought Geminus.

The giant still had fight in him and rolled over onto it's back and promptly smashed its club into the Nord driving him to the ground. The Nord was staggered badly and Geminus started to run now. The giant grabbed the Nord around the neck and picked him up while standing up himself. Then the giant just stood there a few moments staring at the Nord. It shook it's head, mumbled something. then dropped the Nord to the ground. A good eight or ten feet drop! Then it pulled the arrow out of it's eye, stared at it and walked away towards the other giants.

Thankfully, Geminus wasn't in the giants line of sight or he was sure he'd get kicked into Oblivion. As the giant left, he ran up to the Nord lying on the ground and noticed he was petting a rabbit, which unfortunately got startled as he approached and ran off a short distance to watch the new comer.

Geminus approached the man who was now leaning up against the altar and sheathed his sword, dropped his shield next to the Nord and knelt down pulling off his helmet. As he laid that on his shield, you could hear him begin whispering a prayer to Nine as he placed his hand on the young Nords chest. "Hold still sir, my name is Geminus Sierrus, let me heal you." Then proceeded to cast the restoration spells, Heal other and Healing Hands, taught to him and drilled into while training as a Knight.

Within a few minutes the bleeding had stopped and the majority of the mending was well on its way. However the serious bashing the young man took would leave a rather large bruise for a while under of his armor.

As he finished the spells, Geminus sat down, feeling a bit drained from those spells. He hadn't had to use those in a LONG time. "You're lucky to be alive sir," Geminus said as he extended his hand in greeting.

((sorry it's so long, needed to establish a bit of my history and come upon the scene. ))

Harkvaar, walked slowly behind the group unsure what to say. He had never gotten past that mysterious wall, 'these adventurers surely must have known what they were doing, Wait, what are they doing?,' He stood behind the Argonian and listened to the group as one of the women approached the Vampire, Far too close for Harkvaar's liking.

(Rarga we have been sealed off, you are outside with rale and gemini because the 3 of us got locked in, unless you somehow were with the vampire for the past 100 years lol)

The Vampire smirks and says " Fool, you think I made it to this age merely by luck? Ice mane would have killed me if he even had the power, but what did he do? Lock me in because he could not slay me. Think before you say such things, welp. "
piled around his stick-like legs, lie the bodies of countless of people. They are dry and husk-like, their mouths open in agony. Eye sockets would have held eyes brim full of despair, flesh-less mouths would have had lips moving as they cried in pain. But no more.

(Wait, Rarga are you a Nord or Orc?)

Valthor's eyes narrow, he looks at the chained vampire with pity and anger. "What'll stop us from ending you, beast?" Calls out Valthor. Asgothlan merely chuckles "As I grow older without quenching my thirst, I grow stronger." His chains begin to groan, loosening from the stone walls. "And seeing you gives me all the motivation I need." He suddenly breaks free, his chains snap like string as he drops to the floor.

(run to the sun! XD )
(question: Can we kill Valthor here? He is proving to be a nearly invisible character lol )

(haha kk)
Geel hears the creaking screech, rusted iron clattering to the floor. He hears the near silent swish of limbs, and hears the cry of Valthor. It is guttural, and soon turns to a gargling hacking noise as he chokes on his blood. The vampire must fed. The tang of blood fills his senses, far more pungent with skooma enhancing it's smell. droplets of blood seeps between the crevices of his scales, onto his skin.
He gets ready, firebolt in hand, but realizes how useless he was in such cramped areas. One slight mistake in aiming might cause him to hit valthor. He is definitely annoyed, with nothing he could do in such an area.

" Bring him close to me, I can hit him if he is within direct line of aim!" says Geel to Valthor. That is, if Valthor even heard it. That is, If Valthor wasnt unconscious. That is, if Valthor wasnt dead.

Emberlynn seethes with anger at the monster's implication of her grandfather's weakness, but before she even has time to react, the disgusting, emaciated creature has pulled away from its bonds and is headed right toward them.

Within seconds it is upon Valthor, throwing him roughly against the floor. Did she see a flash of fangs? It was too quick to be sure.

Emberlynn lunges at the creature, slashing with her flame sword. Her first strike misses, and she must retreat back several feet to avoid a sudden attack by the creature.

She lunges again, and this time manages to take a swipe at its outstretched arm, which begins to crackle with sudden flames.

The vampire pauses for a moment, narrowing its red eyes at her in hatred. He pounces at her again, but this time she is not quite quick enough.

She manages to twist her neck out of harm's way, but she feels a sudden searing, burning sensation as the monster's fangs graze her shoulder, now partially exposed thanks to the Chaurus attack.

Emberlynn barely has a moment to register what has happened before she readies her sword a second time, this time paired with a flames spell. Hearing Geel's cry, she shifts her position, hoping to lure the vampire closer to the Argonian.

She WILL finish what her grandfather could not, she tells herself as the curious burning sensation continues to flow through her arm...

(umm... I hope we will soon have access to a cure disease potion before it's too late for poor Emberlynn hahaha)
