My biggest problem with any RPG seems to be selecting a character and sticking with it. While Skyrim does offer alot of flexibility with it's free form system, I still constantly feel regret for my desicions character wise.
I've played through so much of the early game, I think Alduin's first appearance is burned into my retina. I just want to create a character I will enjoy playing, but I'm not sure what I enjoy doing. I've tried various skill combos but always feel like I should have gone a different route, so much so that I end up just not enjoying myself.
Most builds I make are combat based, but it just feels so hack and slashy. I just hammer a button and hope for the best. I have more fun with a shield it seems, since that add some level of tactical necessity.
I'm not sure about stealth builds. My big problem is that I have an objection to playing thief characters. Stealing leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Sure you don't have to join the Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood, or even steal. But I'm still developing my opinion on this style of play.
Magic and me have a weird history. I really want to use magic, but I just can't seem to get the hang of the style of play necessary. I keep dying, is what I'm saying.
I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem. Are there any suggestions on how one might decide on what build to use?
