The Greybeards are way more interesting if you actually read what they're saying

The whole time I thought they were just mystical old guys who grunt at you, but I went back and actually paid attention to what each shout means and what they're teaching you philosophically, and honestly it reframes the entire main quest.

Like, the Way of the Voice isn't just "shout louder" - it's about understanding the fundamental nature of language and power in this world. The fact that they're so opposed to you using Unrelenting Force for combat isn't them being stubborn, it's them trying to teach you that power without understanding is just noise. And then you get to Paarthurnax and the whole thing clicks - he spent centuries learning to suppress his nature through the Way of the Voice, and the Blades want to kill him anyway.

I'm not even sure I buy the Blades' argument anymore on replays. Delphine and Esbern are basically asking you to execute someone for what he is, not what he's doing. Paarthurnax literally says he has to work every day to not be a dragon, and that's the whole point of redemption in this game's lore.

Anyway, anyone else feel like the College questline would've been way stronger if the Greybeards had more presence in it? The whole thing about magic vs the Voice could've been explored so much deeper.

Yeah, this is a solid observation. The Greybeards definitely reward paying attention - most people just see them as quest markers and miss the actual philosophy underneath.

That said, I think the Blades' argument is a bit more defensible than you're giving it credit for. Paarthurnax says he has to suppress his nature every day, right? Which is kind of the problem from their perspective. He's not cured - he's just constantly white-knuckling it. From a practical standpoint, keeping an ancient dragon around who admits he could snap back to being a mass murderer at any moment is... a gamble. The Blades aren't wrong that he's a threat, even if he's a reformed threat. It's not really about what he is so much as what he could do if he slips up.

Where I do agree with you is that the main quest doesn't really interrogate this hard enough. Skyrim kind of wants you to feel good about your choice either way, which means the actual moral weight gets diluted. Morrowind would've made you live with the consequences way harder - House politics and factional reputation actually mattered in ways that made you think twice. Here you can side with or against the Blades and the story just... keeps going. No real fallout.

The College thing is a decent point too. Would've been cool if the Greybeards had opinions about the College's methods, or if that questline actually engaged with the Voice vs magic debate instead of just being "fetch these artifacts."
