today is a sad day.......

I know most people play this game and make multiple players/builds and play the game multiple times. Well I'm not one of those types of game players I'm a one build kinda guy and have put manly hours into leveling him up and doing tons of side missions . Well I usually let my 4.5 year old son play skyrim on a different profile on the ps3. Well to make a long story short I walked in today to find he has been playing on my profile but on a new game and comes to find out he accidentally deleted my whole save. I'm distraught over the situation needless to say.
 
My sympathies; I'm a one toon player as well, and would be devastated as well. I guess once you've recovered, you look at it as an opportunity to correct those annoying little missteps you've made along the way your first time through.
 
ya im pretty down about it but i can think of multiple things that i will change this time around like how my character looks, he looked like a total dbag cuz i just quickly made my character to start the game. i always had to wear a helmet of some sort cuz i hated looking at him lol. and i also waisted alot of perk points at the first that i wont be doing again this time around. well i appreciate your sympathies over this situation.
 
Dude, I am so sorry for you. I genuinely feel bad....that is why when I let other people play my video games, I create them their own file and stay with them the whole time...it took me about 3 or 4 experiences similar to yours to learn my lesson..
 
I feel you bro. My lil couzin has an incredible talent for "accidentally" deleting any save game he comes near. Been losing badasses for like 10 years now cuz of him.....
 
I've had my fair share of lost saves in many games.

I made a similar mistake in Skyrim. I did not relise the game would overwrite when a started a new game using only one save file. However, mistakes like this make me a smarter man, and i know not to do this in the future.
 
well hes a pretty smart little guy and knows not to play any game on my profile (i have 2 other profiles that he plays on) and he just didnt realize he was on mine, i asked him when i came in the room and he said no im on my moms profile but i knew differently cuz i just loaded the game on mine to play and left the room, well you live you learn i guess
 
If I have a child, I think i will buy him a seperate game console. I'm the same age you were when your son was born, but i plan to wait a while before i have my first child (mainly because i am still searching for the perfect woman to be the mother of my children).

I'm fortunate enough to be in this position, where my children are on the Xbox and I play exclusively on the PC. It's a nice situation to be in, if you can swing it.
 
that sucks, but if haven't turned off youre autosave features you might be able to load the previous autosaved files since they don't get override, I think. I can't remember but when my game froze(forgot to save after playing for hour) had to reset the ps3 but found the previous autosaved from when i last exited or entered a room. It's a try though
 
I need to know about this, my little brother wants to create a profile and play aswell but im really afraid it might affect my save file. As i only use auto saves and quick-saves is quick saving a bad way to do it?

And how do i go about creating 2 separate profiles? it seems to jumble up the saves randomly if 2 characters are created.
 
you can create 2 or more profiles and have it saved separately but you have to BE CAREFUL and not override the save for one profile over another :) I have my autosave turned off so I save manually. On the save file, it'll have youre character's name and lvl so you won't confuse the one with another.

Rule of thumb, if you don't have children don't try and teach other people how to raise theirs (even if you have a valid point).





I have had a similar experience, When the 360 Elite came out I bought it on the day it was released, my Oblivion save was on my 360 Premium console and I asked my friend who I sold my console to (at mates rates by the way) to keep my game saves (so I could get a transfer cable from Microsoft) for a few different games but he decided to delete right away, needless to say I couldn't face starting my 50+ hour Oblivion game again =(
 
I have a younger brother who is about 6 and he plays my ps3 whenever he gets that chance. Luckily my parents don't want him to play skyrim, or else I'd prolly have a save file get over-written also. I'm sorry to hear for your losses man, i would be devestated.
 
4.5 years old? Shouldn't he be, you know, coloring or something? lol My nephews are like "Skyrim? What is that?"

Sucks, but I think you will find starting over can be fun. It sounds like you have some things you can build on anyway. Enjoy!
