Vampire Lord form is way less fun than it should be

I've been doing a full Dawnguard run on my current playthrough and I keep getting disappointed by how clunky Vampire Lord actually plays. Like, the concept is incredible - you're supposed to feel like this powerful, terrifying creature - but the actual combat feels so slow and floaty compared to just being a regular character with spells.

The melee attacks have this weird delay to them, feeding is a pain to set up mid-combat, and half the time I'm just mashing the same spell over and over because the physical attacks don't feel rewarding. I get that they were trying to make it feel different from normal combat, but different doesn't have to mean worse.

Anyone else find themselves just transforming for a quest objective and then switching back? Or am I just bad at using it? I want to love this form but it feels like it needs way more investment than it's worth compared to just being a good old fashioned battlemage or something.

I get the frustration, but honestly I think Vampire Lord works way better if you lean into the magic side of it rather than the melee attacks. The physical strikes do feel sluggish, yeah, but the spell casting from that form is actually pretty solid - especially if you stack perks like Augmented Frost or the one that lets you cast while moving. The drain spells in particular hit different when you're in that form.

That said, the feeding mechanic is genuinely clunky. Having to position yourself perfectly on a downed enemy mid-combat is annoying, and if there's no one to feed on nearby you're just stuck with reduced stats. I think that's the real design problem - it punishes you for not having targets available, which doesn't make thematic sense for something that's supposed to feel powerful.

My take: Vampire Lord shines more as a utility form than a primary combat stance. Transform for the mobility, the drain spells, maybe the invisibility power if you're sneaking. But yeah, if you're expecting it to feel better than a well-built mage or warrior, you're probably going to be disappointed. It's more of a "cool to have" than a "this is my main playstyle" thing on most runs.
