Vampires Vampires Vampires

Jman4505

level 81.5
With the new trailer for dawnguard out today I figured Id make a thread dedicated to vampires, since that's what the new dlc is all about. Post anything vampire related here. your favorite experiences as a vamp, complaints about vampirism, what your expecting in dawnguard, or maybe even some suggestions that could add to vampire game play.

The Dawnguard trailer looked really badass! Definitely going to have a character become a Vampire. The Dawnguard vampires remind me of Gargoyles... I wonder when the release date for PS3 is?

For now, I have a Dunmer and Khajiit character who are vampires. Playing the Dunmer vampire is good to counteract the vampire's weakness to fire. Vampires' resistance to frost are helpful in Draugr Crypts and against Frost Dragons.

I could fill a book. :)

Some of my favorite moments as a vampire have to be when I'm at Stage 4 and I'm being hunted. I enjoy the thrill of both being predator and prey. The challenge of trying to flee or wait it out is an adrenaline rush for me. Then the satisfaction from finally feeding after the manhunt is a great cap to all the chaos.

Some complaints I have is not being able to disguise yourself at Stage 4. How could anyone know I was a vampire if I had a mask on? I wear a Dragon Priests mask during the day. It covers all of my face and head. So how is it possible for the villagers to recognize me as an Undead? Another thing that bugs me is the lack of enhanced strength and speed. The Skyrim vampire is a throwback to the more classical vampires like Carmilla and Lord Ruthven from the 1800s, with the feeding only at night and slightly above human strength. Dracula broke that mold and although he was still killed (in his coffin, unable to move due to the sun) he was a force to be reckoned with. As a fan of the vampire myth, I can appreciate what the Skyrim vampire is, but for a video game, especially an RPG, people what to feel powerful. The vampire should be what we know them as today, powerful beings that blend in perfectly to hunt their prey. Unimaginable strength with hindering weakness as well. I don't want a God, just a demon. ;)

I am expecting some improvements to the vampires in Dawnguard. I believe I saw that shape-shifting was added. That would be awesome as many vampires in literature possessed the ability to shape-shift into bats, wolfs and mist. The story feels dark, with the player given the choice to become a vampire or eliminate them. At least that's what I got out of it. I am curious as to how my current vampire builds will play out in Dawnguard. What about those who have chosen Lycanthrophy? Will we be forced to create new character specifically for this add-on? So many questions.

Only time will tell. I am excited for this add-on. I was hoping for a good vampire quest in the game, but I was disappointed. I hope Dawnguard will live up to my hype.

I'm making a vampire character right now, as it's possibly the one major thing I haven't done in Skyrim. I normally choose being a Werewolf, as I prefer them. So, we'll see where this character takes me.

I didn't remain a vampire for long as I was getting really annoyed with the whole sunshine burning thing. Plus, being attacked on sight started getting old and got in the way of some of my, shall we say, transactions.

Two good things to come out of my brief time as a vampire: Killing both Belethor and that aggravating Cloud District guy upon my arrival in Whiterun one fine, sunny day. They attacked on sight, naturally. I had nothing against Belethor, although I couldn't help but think as I stood over his fallen body, "Yeah, that's for that "sold" sister you never had!" Yeah, I tend to get all uppity like that.

Now the Cloud District dude, on the other hand, was an annoying p***k. Man, what an insulting little snot everytime we crossed paths! So it was indeed a most blessed day when I took his pompous ass out. Now, whenever I pass his wife, she always says something like, "I hope you rot out in the wilderness." A charmer for sure. No surprise those two were married. Three times I've tried to take her out with my bow at night, but there's always people walking or standing around. Ye gods, don't these people sleep?!

As for the DLC? No real preconceived thoughts or hopes from me. Just bring it on, because whatever it's about, I'm sure it'll be good.
