What is Skyrim missing?

I think the first-person has to be improved. It's great, but I mean they force you into third at some points. Dead Island does it real well, first person 100% of the game. Also, I want my own kids. I'm a dunmer. I don't want a nord kid. Also, guilds you can just be a member of. I don't want to rule every guild.

That list is actually features that should be added to the next game, but for a DLC, more major battles and the ability to rule holds/Skyrim would be awesome. Definitely.

The things I would want but I haven't seen anyone mention it:

1. Staff walking animation like Gandalf in LotR.
2. Every iron sword in skyrim looks identical as if they were mass produced (we need a couple of variants for low to mid lvl weapons) and besides Redguards with their "curved swords" everybody uses Nord weapons no matter what race they are.
3. More mage robes!!!

I wish there were occasional bandit attacks when you use a carriage.
This. Couple it with the ability to just ride in the carriage instead of auto loading to the next city like a fast travel (But with the option to skip of course).

I think it would be great to be able to choose from a few options where your weapons are sheathed. like three options for each weapon type, one-handed two handed and bow, shield on back too. Also I want to be able to have a bow and a melee weapon appear on my charcter at once. I feel this would really allow for interesting character development just through the way they hold their weapons, heres an example...t_4_2_by_nefar007.avif

be soooo cool to have a back/belt fastened warhammer..

I would love that; especially with my Mage. The ability to have a sheathed sword for emergencies while blasting foes away with my spells in both hands.

guys guys guys, don´t you think that this game is already to much of a combat game ??

Now that im playing the game at level 81 i have to play it in very easy to feel a bit stronger because of the stupid leveling system.

I want a DLC that makes the game more alive...prostitutes ? hell yeah
I want more ways to do quests like in fallout where u can lie/cheat and steal ur way thru a quest, change alliances and basically do whatever u want.

If im a master mage why can´t i snap my fingers and transform myself or someone into a let´s say..a rabbit for example ? or make someone invisible, or small...or giant...or retard...get what im saying ? why can't i do stupid funny stuff that add nothing to the game except pure excitement ?
why does most of the quests involve fighting and retrieving something from a dungeon ?

basically i want skyrim to be more unique.

I think something hardcore thing would be awesome. They already had it in Fallout. It's just better when you are forced to eat/drink. Also the weight related things. Who the hell carries around 300 arrows and 30k septims. Would be a great improvement for RP or just someone who wants a challenge

I'm from Yorkshire, I'm Northern :D
A brothel, I really feel that in skyrim the men have needs and they should have a "leisure suit larry" type quest line. I am married to that hot miner, but she never takes off that dam pickaxe, so I know my character is not getting his "needs" met.

Cutscenes, framing, film technique.

If you've played Mass Effect, you'd get what I mean quite well.

I'd rather not. Mass Effect ended up an altar of cinematography, forcing you down the path they decided on so you can see those cool cut scenes. Yeah, they look nice, but they lead to a railroad with even fewer meaningful choices. They're expensive, so the developer has to make sure you see as many as possible. TES has been getting simpler for the better part of a decade, and accommodating big cut scenes would only exacerbate that problem. In addition, I feel cut scenes break immersion; it makes it clear in no uncertain terms that you're playing a game. I just don't want TES to grow any further than its roots than it already has.

I don't want anything added to Skyrim itself. I have had quite enough of this game but it is so incredible I only want to play it and nothing else. So I want tha next TES, with almost all of the things you all have suggested. Alas, this will be a long wait.

I can name a few;

Spears *real spears*, more weapons/armour/items, new dungeons/caves/cities/etc etc, more wildlife, actual Dragon riding, more mage equipment, more spells, and more Shouts. And, of course, a DLC that adds more hair/facial/character options--though I'm not entirely sure if the last option is even possible.

And unless I have completely missed that it exists, farming!

While I can certainly see your point, and understand it, to me it is rather negligible that some choices didn't matter when everything was handled as brilliantly as it was throughout the entire saga, from beginning to end.

How can people say cutscenes break inmersion ? Cutscenes are the goddamn norm in story-driven videogames, you can tell you're playing a TES game precisely because you are always in control of your character, which frankly, is rather unsatisfying given how the great great moments never truly stand out from the more mundane ones.

I understand the part about cost though, still, I always speak from a place that firmly believes that videogames can only get bigger and better in the future, technology will improve, investment will increase, and games will simply be outstanding.

We play RPGs for entirely different reasons, then. I want it to feel like MY story, not the developers'. Bioware achieved this brilliantly as Black Isle, continued with the great KOTOR games, did a good job with Dragon Age and put Mass Effect off to the right start, but they sacrificed it for those pretty scenes. This linearity is, or was, the antithesis of TES series. It's admittedly become less complex over the years (to its detriment), and I certainly don't want to see it homogenized with other blockbuster RPGs you see.

I guess I didn't notice how life pans out to an epic third person view when something important happens. How weird.

Again we have polar opinions. After I get involved in a game, it is much more jarring to have a sudden shift in perspective, usually rendered better than the game I'm playing. Again, it makes it obvious to me that it is something that was a story created for me instead of something organically growing. I can't see how it doesn't break immersion for you, and those cut scenes are my least favorite part of newer RPGs. In older ones that maintain your standard view, it's not so bad, but when the way a game is presented drastically changes, it turns me off.

Yes, you can tell you're in a TES game because you're always in control. That is the appeal, what makes it different. The whole selling point of TES is a massive world where you always decide what to do, and always has been. Why would you destroy what makes Bethesda unique, what they built their reputation and success on?

I grew up playing and loving TES games precisely because this is the way they are. It's why people bought Arena, and Daggerfall, and Morrowind, and Oblivion, and Skyrim. Because no one else does it. Because no one else can do it. Why would we ever want them to be just like everyone else?

In regards to cut scenes - they don't need to be too frequent, it could just be for special events. For example, that scene when you use the elder scroll to look back in time - that DEFINITELY should have been a cut scene, animated as a proper movie, not as dodgy AI controlled characters attacking a dragon and just getting pushed over by it. I like it when AIs fight alongside me in real time combat, but just watching them go at it is not impressive. Seeing those old heroes with close ups and stuff would actually help me feel more interested in meeting them.

And events where there is an important speech happening, like a jarl addressing the crowd, or one of the faction leaders talking. These would make nice cut scenes. And it would also avoid the possibility of an NPC walking past you and start waffling in your ear while you're trying to focus on a major event.
