Wildlander mod setup finally clicked for me and I get why people obsess over it

I've been doing a vanilla-plus playthrough for like two years and kept seeing people mention Wildlander in passing, always like "oh it's too hardcore" or "the setup is a nightmare." Finally bit the bullet last month and spent a weekend getting it running on my PC, and honestly? I'm not going back.

It's not just the survival mechanics, which yeah are intense but actually make sense once you get used to them. It's that the whole thing feels cohesive in a way most mod lists don't. Like, every perk tree change, every combat tweak, every weather mod - it all serves the same vision of making Skyrim feel less forgiving and more like you're actually struggling to survive in a frozen wasteland. My character actually needs to plan routes around weather. She gets exhausted. Food matters. It sounds tedious but it's weirdly immersive?

The roleplay potential alone has me hooked. I'm playing a Nord refugee from Solstheim who's basically terrible at everything, and watching her slowly get better at survival feels earned in a way my stealth archer never did. She failed at joining the Companions twice because she wasn't strong enough. That shouldn't work but it does.

Anyway if anyone's been on the fence about trying it - the initial setup is annoying but not as bad as people make it sound. MO2 does most of the heavy lifting. Curious if anyone else made the jump recently or if I'm just late to the party here.
