Wow this sucks

I stored my nightangle armor in a wardrobe at the castle of winterhold. I went back a few days later and my armors gone. I loved that armor.... what should i do.

Only store your gear in houses you own. As you discovered the hard way, storing it anywhere else will result in thievery. Worst thing is you don't even know who took it. An outfit that awesome could come up for sale somewhere, but not likely. Any chance of loading the game before you stored it?

What dunklunk said. Though there are a few places you can store your stuff safely without buying a house. But as far as your situation goes... chances are it's lost for good. Might have to reload to a previous save.

If you are on the PC you can use the console to give yourself another suit of it.

Reload an old save if possible, if not, lesson learned, the hard way (at least I hope you learned your lesson lol).

If you put the armor in the wardrobe in the room assigned to you by Mirabelle it should still be there. Wardrobes do not respawn their contents. I've never heard of anything getting stolen from a container by NPCs. They will pick stuff up if you leave it out in the open.

Did you reinstall the game recently?

If you are playing on a PC you can simply add the set to your inventory through the console if you don't mind a little cheating (I would, but it is up to you).

Open the console using "^" or "~".

Then type in:

player.additem 0005db86 1
player.additem 000fcc0e 1
player.additem 000fcc0f 1

and press enter after each one.

Every container in the game that you do not own (like houses or chests in any of the guilds) will randomly respawn generic items so be careful.

no way to get it back, I stupidly made the same mistake thinking the chest in the abandoned shack wouldn't respawn. lost my ebony mail, nettlebane, and spellbreaker... among other things lol. I believe the dresser is safe in the abandoned shack though.

The abandoned house in markarth has the most safe storage for a house I believe and it's free. The end table in the alchemist shack is safe. In Lund's Hut the chest and end table are supposedly safe. There's alot of free "homes".

Here's a helpful link if you don't want to buy a house or don't have the cash for it > LINK

Only some containers will do that. The Creation Kit allows you to see which containers have respawning enabled. Cupboards, Dressers, End Tables and Wardrobes do not have respawning enabled. His armor shouldn't have vanished.

In addition there are custom versions of containers for which the generic ones have respawning enabled, like the barrels and sacks in the Archmage's Quarters, the armory chest at Sky Haven Temple, and the guild chests in the Ragged Flagon Cistern, that have respawning disabled.

Now that I think about it, I've never read anything about any container in the game that indicated a respawn timer that was only a few days long. The only thing I know of that respawns that fast are merchant inventories. His armor disappearing may simply be the result of the game glitching.

I dont know exactly if you store anything in the college, you would get it back, referring to your room there. It SHOULD be safe if it IS your room. But I never exactly stored anything in there because I know that some places respawn. (Or most likely DELETE your items.)

As people said above use console commands. That is a way to get it back.

But then there is the " I have CONSOLE FFFFUUUU" part. If you have the console version, well, all I can say is, remember how you got the armor? You can still activate the stone. But I never tried losing my armor then trying to get it back. I VALUE IT TOO MUCH :o
So, as I was saying, try getting the armor by activating the stone.

OR

JUST restart that character as I dont know how far you are in the game.
However, you can still keep that other character to see what quests you did and what you need to do to get that new character to the point where you were.

Thats probably the only way out of that :P

What I DO NOT KNOW is you can buy it from NPC that found your items. I personally think thats impossible.

True but the others are easily distinguishable by their "Steal from" red tags.

THAT is true. But I did something where I was rushing and I opened a stolen chest/drawer and I didnt know it was someone else's. Someone caught me, and I was trying to figure out why they were chasing me and I saw a bunch of stolen items that was in there. I really thought it was an open chest [ Not owned... ].

Great news I was looking in the hall of attainment. Had my nightangle and thievesguild armor and a lot of other valuable possessions stored thank god i found it! Now i need to find out how to buy that mansion in windhelm so my wife has a place to stay and I dont have to lose my priced possessions! lmao

As I stated before, wardrobes are safe so that's really not an issue. Not remembering where you put stuff is though. :p

You can't buy Hjerim unless you do on of the civil war faction quest lines. You can get it sooner if you choose the Stormcloak quest line. If you choose the Imperial quest line it wont become available until you've completed the whole quest line.

All right, Wrestle! Glad to hear at least one problem ended positively! Those two outfits are pretty
shweet. :)

Where do I join the stormcloacks and how long does it take to actually get far enough in the quest line to purchase the house? I really need a house even though i'm about to be the archmage at college of winterhold.

I have spent most of the time with the game doing side quests such as beating the theives guild but keeping the skeleton key that is sweet. But i have thieves guild armor chllred sword. I want to get some stronger armor though. Do you suggest I train smithing to get to the level to create my own deadrick armor is there a less time consuming way to get my hands on some protective armor when I'm not a mage.

DING DING DING DING! WINNER!

Or he may just be looking in the wrong container. There are a bunch of wardrobes at the College.

Go to the Palace of Kings in Windhelm and speak to Ulfric Stormcloak to start the quest line. After you complete the Battle of Whiterun and the first subquest in the Liberation of Skyrim quest you should be able to purchase Hjerim but speaking of Whiterun, is there any reason why you don't want to purchase Breezehome (or any other house) instead?

Can you post your perk build? If you've been training Light Armor skill and taking the Light Armor armor rating bonus perks then switching to heavy armor is probably not a good idea.

I like having nice things. I dont want to settle for the easiest or cheapest house. When I do something big in the game I want the best there is, in this situation I want the solitude house or one of the nicest ones. Do any house offer display cases thats a must.
