"You Should See Me When You Get Bored, Stranger"

Holy heck is Jaree-Ra loud, I can be in the process of entering the castle in Solitude and he'll start talking and it sounds like he's practically yelling in my ears, his obnoxiously loud volume is worse than both bears and dragons combined in Skyrim. Not to mention that his dialogue trigger range (or however that works) seems to be by far the largest in the entire game. I've even fast traveled to the Blue Palace and gone to Castle Dour that way (going nowhere near him) and his dialogue STILL triggered.

Does anybody else find Jaree-Ra to be the most annoying character in Skyrim, even more than Nazeem or the Talos priest in Whiterun? ...or Lydia

Just do his quest and he will not bother you

If only it were that easy but alas, my current character is a Legate in the Imperial Legion so I shouldn't even be willing to talk to Jaree-Ra, much less consider his offer. I'm a little familiar with his quest, but seeing as how little I visit Solitude after completing the Civil War storyline, there is not much reason for me to "step out of character".

Kill him and be done with it.

There's a thread somewhere in the general discussion that tells you how to kill essential NPCs on Xbox and PS3. If you're on PC, just use console commands and kill the damn guy.

I always found that line a bit... suspect. My first reaction to it is to run away really fast. :o

(And then maybe slightly kill him.)

While he's not the MOST annoying character to me, I agree, he's far too loud. I can be way up by Castle Dour and it still sounds like he's yelling in my ear. It still sounds like a come on to me though, especially with his inflections.

There are so many other reasons to hate the dude - being annoying is the least of them.

Most annoying person to me is Farengar when you haven't done the bleak falls barrow quest yet.

What are you still doing here? What are you still doing here? What are you still doing here? What are you still doing here? What are you still doing here? What are you still doing here? The method of reducing essential NPC into Ash Piles by use of dual-cast Reanimate Corpse spells at their heads is a temporary solution at best for the vast majority of these irritating characters.
Most often they will respawn after a while.

Tested on Imperial Legates , Brynjolf , Brina Merilis /her bodyguard, Louis Letrush , etc.(Xbox)

Do you know where Jaree-Ra hides during the execution of Roggvir when you first walk into Solitude? The alchemist shop.

The first time I was rolling a new alchemist character and decided I didn't want to watch the whole execution scene I went straight into Angelique's Aromatics and he was standing by the counter all: "You should see me when you get bored, stranger" I thought it was a bug. But then a few weeks later I played a new character and he was there again, then a few months later I rolled a new character and he was there again, then a few weeks later...

I avoid Angelique's when the execution scene is rolling now.

Interestingly I never trusted him from the start, even though I knew nothing about his quest. I think it was the fact I grew up in a port town, so I knew how FRIGGING DANGEROUS turning off the lighthouse would be and found his assurances the crew would not be harmed a bit hard to believe. In fact, I reloaded just to get his quest out of my journal, but the stupid innkeeper put him in my misc journal when I made the mistake of asking him about rumours.

You should be given the option to decline his quest or at least kill him. That's just another moment where Bethesda punishes my good characters and rewards my evil ones.

You think Jaree-Ra is the most annoying character in Skyrim?
Have you even BEEN to Whiterun?

Have you ever been to the cloud district; I work with Belethor at the general good store; come to chat with an old woman; TALOS TALOS fluffING TALOS!!!

Give me Jaree-Ra's job offers any day over those guys

At least you can kill Farengar.

Well, the most annoying characters for me were all my wives. No, seriously, I got married 5 times and got irritated by them each time. However, this issue can be easily fixed with a sword.
