Companions soul trap?

Quick question~

If I give my companion a weapon enchanted with soul trap, and a bunch of empty soul gems, will they actually capture souls? I was thinking of starting a straight up, no weapon mage, and don't want to be bothered with casting soul trap on the creatures all the time.

They're called followers and yes it should work. I've read about other players doing this successfully. Just make sure it is their preferred weapon type or that they have no other melee weapons in their inventory.

If you do it as Dagmar said then yes they do, I've done it many times. It's a good way to get a lot of filled soul gems fast without the need to buy them.
