Wolf - though I've never used it once in my life. It just feels so wrong to strip poor Skjor and leave him splayed, naked on the dungeon floor.
You don't need to loot Skjor; Eorlund Gray-Mane sells it at the Sky Forge after you finish "Proving Honor", in the Companions questline.
Coolest looking: Yeah, probably Nightingale.
Best?: Wolf Armor, no question. Wolf Armor is the best armor available in the early game; it's weight to protection ratio is excellent, it benefits from the "Steel" smithing perk (and blows Steel Armor away) and...it's cheap. It's light enough that you can also enchant more than one set with different properties, and you'll still have a lot of room left to carry normal quest baggage/loot.
Did I mention: it's also dirt cheap.
