Imperials or Stormcloaks, what one?

While we do respect your opinion you also need to respect the fact that since you publicly submit your opinion on an open forum that it gives us the right to correct you on the false information that you posted here.

I honestly don't see why you are being so defensive about us giving you the right information. I would think you would be a bit more grateful to see that people are willing to volunteer some of their valuable time to give you an intelligent response. Perhaps this thread isn't for you, since it clearly indicated that you're unable to handle constructive criticism in a respectful manner.
 
no I appreciate the help i just don't like it when people get cocky or start saying things which don't need to be said thats all I really do appreciate the help.
 
Hey I have been reading this thread for almost an hour now, and I have been struggling to choose a side myself. What I would like to know is there any hints from the Imperials that they are going to turn on the Thalmor? (I think that's what they are called) I chose to run away with the stormcloak when Helgen was attacked but I haven't been able to get much useful information to let me know if the imperials are planning or want to resist the Thalmor. I mean I did like the idea at first fighting for the Stormcloacks but after seeing Ulfric and they way they treat people in Windhelm I feel bad if I were to help Ulfric win the war if he doesn't even help those who are in his own city that aren't nord. Any help would be nice please!!!!!! Thanks!

Were not trying to gang up on you and get all cocky. We just provided you with correct facts that can be proven with lore. Not sure why you seem to have a problem with doing so.
 
I'm ending it here as I have another crap in rl and I come here just to give my opinion and you have to make comments on it like "grow a thicker skin" which I can just live without! sorry if I sound a bit you know, but it's how I feel

The overall feeling that I have observed while playing for the Legion has been that no one cares at all for the Thalmor or the WGC, while asserting that what was done was done in the collective best interests at the time of its signature. There is a pervasive (and unsettling) sense that the current peace is but a calm between storms - as Ondolemar puts it - and that a new war, or really a continuation of the Great War of thirty years prior will commence sometime in the not terribly distant future.

For instance, Legate Rikke suggests as much:

There are those who still call themselves Stormcloaks, who continue to fight us, and bring misery to the people... but they are few in number. The ordinary citizen will be happy to get back to life as normal, to have their families return home. And they should enjoy it while they can... I suspect all of Tamriel will again be called to arms in the not too distant future.

She also expresses her concern about Thalmor activities and hopes that the Legion's success will stop or at least slow the Dominion's violence and belligerence in the province:

When we destroy the rebellion, perhaps the Thalmor will call off their damned inquisitions. It's just making things worse.

I don't fight for the glory of the Empire, nor do I glory in the death of my kinsmen. I fight to bring peace and order to my homeland.

Rikke: "Ulfric. Stop."
Ulfric: "Stop what? Taking Skyrim back from those who'd leave her to rot?"
Rikke: "You're wrong. Ulfric. We need the Empire. Without it Skyrim will assuredly fall to the Dominion."

The above are quotes from Rikke, but even General Tullius is at best wary of the Thalmor - it could even be argued that he's hostile to them at the core, judging from comments he makes during "Season Unending". He too expresses and confirms that the Empire's ongoing fight against the Thalmor is very real:

Most of the Legion is tied down on the border with the Aldmeri Dominion. The Emperor can't afford to risk weakening Cyrodiil's defenses. From the Imperial City, our war here is just a sideshow. An interlude before the main event against the Thalmor resumes.

After the Legion's civil war quests are done and Ulfric is dead, if you speak to Tullius further he makes some comments about the immediate future of the province and the lingering rebellion. But what's interesting is his rather candid statement that he's "not so sure about" the peace made with the Thalmor. There is once again the sense that the Empire has no love for the Thalmor (why on Nirn would it?) - and that the exasperation that the most prominent Legion leaders exhibit in the game is strongly correlated to the idea that the Dominion is strengthened by expended Imperial resources in Skyrim's civil conflict.

tldr;

No one likes the Thalmor except the Thalmor. The Legion/Empire: doesn't hate Talos (Tiber Septim was worshiped in Cyrodiil for godsake), doesn't hate Nords (they're a good chunk of the Legion and there's long been a mutual benefit), and the prevailing wisdom holds that the Great War never completely ended - the WGC only ceased the immediate devastating warfare, fighting that left a great portion of Cyrodiil reeling.

The Great War: Round Two is coming, in some form. And that is in large part why I personally have supported the Legion when I play.

If only you spent some time in actually reading this thread you soon realize that this is for those who want to get involved in a serious debate in Skyrim's political discussion. And yes Janus3003 said it right. you do need to get a thicker layer of skin because you're making a big deal over nothing. We corrected you with correct information, and you are having an epileptic fit attack over there.
 
ok right this is going a bit too far now I'm sorry if I have said anything unacceptable and I don't want to carry on with this thread. I thought it was just a give your opinion thread not an debating one so I apoligise. I will take back any negative ratings I gave if you do the same.

The game offers no hints of any such intention. It requires some degree of speculation but the Empire is not likely to break or rescind the White-Gold Concordat for the foreseeable future. Even 25 years after the end of the war its Legions are spread relatively thinly across what remains of the Empire compared to the Legion prior to the Great War. When you factor in our complete ignorance on the condition of the Aldmeri Dominion (the Thalmor is the ruling class within the Dominion) and ignorance about the Empire's knowledge of any such condition it seems highly improbable that the Empire will launch an offensive against the Aldmeri Dominion even if it rescinds the White-Gold Concordat. It's more likely that it would result in a period of open conflict similar to that which existed between the Empire under Tiber Septim and the First Aldmeri Dominion prior to his conquering it with the aid of Numidium.

Well thank you Docta Corvina for the reply, It was what I was looking for in a reply. I too will support the Legion/Imperials now, I just feel like the legion has a better overall attitude toward all the races and after reading your post and several others I feel like if I joined the Stormcloaks it would only have been in revenge for the Imperials/Legions from trying to cut my head off, but after hearing Ulfric and how he only backs the Nords that get attacked I just can't see myself helping a selfish/racist leader like that. So again thanks a ton Docta Corvina for the helpful information :) and I hope some kind of expansion or DLC or anything will further the storyline of the war.

The bottom line is neither team (Stormcloaks and the Imperials/Empire) aren't truly the bad guys. It's truly unfortunate that Bethesda didn't give us the option to use our speechcraft skills to convince our preferred leader (Gen. Tullius or Jarl Ulfric) to temporary become allies to our enemy to then take our lead to the damn Elves. The next great war will require all man kind full cooperation so they can win against the A.D.

Perhaps I'm speaking this in a matter of RP point of view, but I firmly believe that the gods chosen you to become the problem solver of man. The Divines chooses you to become the next leader. To be honest with you I don't think the Dragonborn should side with anyone... more neurally if anything else.
 
Stormcloaks plus Empire VS Aldmeri Dominion = bad for the Thalmor since this is NOT what they truly wanted to happen.
