I just replayed the Markarth questline (the one with the Forsworn and the conspiracy) and man, I forgot how good the whole zone actually is. Like not just the main quest - the whole vibe of the city.
There's something genuinely unsettling about how the Forsworn are treated in that hold. You've got the guards that are corrupt, the conspiracy that goes all the way up, and then you're stuck in Cidhna Mine if you pick the wrong dialogue option. The quest design feels way tighter than Civil War stuff because it's all localized and the stakes feel personal instead of abstract.
Plus the side content there is solid. Blood on the Ice gets a lot of hate but I think people just remember the jank. The actual mystery is fine if you don't overthink it. And there's a bunch of smaller quests that just feel... grounded? Like you're actually solving problems for people instead of fetching bear pelts.
Anyone else find Markarth way more interesting on replays? Or am I just contrarian at this point.
