Pets?

I have no pets currently due to restrictions where I live, but I've always had a thing for Huskies and my husband has always liked German Shepherds. We both are fascinated by wolf hybrids. I figure that the Tamaskan dog might be the closest fit to all those likes. We might look into a rescue once we buy a house (currently house-hunting).

I grew up with cats mostly. We only had three dogs in my entire life (not all at the same time). One was a Pekingese and the other two were Australian Shepherds. All of my former pets are sadly deceased because it's been a really long time. I miss them.

I disagree with having wolves as pets, but I want a wolfy-looking dog in the future, so a tamaksan/utonagan is a big "yeah-like-I'll-ever-have-that" thing on my wishlist for future babies.

Last time I measures him he was about 19.5 inches long, that was about 3 months ago, I'm almost positive he is bigger now, his viv is 4 foot so you can get a rough idea of how big he is

He stopped eating insects around the same time I stopped eating meat, which was very strange, I didn't make a conscious effort to change his feeding at all. He just....stopped

I spent about £150 that month total on vets bills getting him checked out, and a further £75 on every type of insect available, nothing. :/

Now I just give him baby food, not exactly the best option but when faced with the circumstances I have to make the best of it. No problems to date though, and it started 7 months ago

That's cute. It's cool that you're a vegetarian (I am too!) but I'd still try to encourage him to get some meat. Adult beardies should have a majority of their diet be veggies, but they still need a good animal protein source too. Or do you mean he eats meat baby food? If he won't eat live bugs, you could try mixing freeze dried into his salads or something, even though they aren't as nutritious. Or ask your vet for some carnivore/insectivore liquid diet (like Critical Care) and maybe you could inject it into a fruit or something he likes (my water dragons are obsessed with blueberries so I use those as treats to make them eat something or give them medicine, lol). That's cool if your vet said he looks okay though. If you give him veggies in baby-food form, I highly recommend you switch back to solids, like dark leafy greens like collard/mustard/turnip/dandelion.

Ahh a fellow reptile lover, awesome

I keep trying him with locusts crickets morios wax worms dubia roaches, lobster roaches etc but he still refuses point blank to eat them :/ stubborn animal lol.

The free\e dried insects i tried he made a determined effort so remove, I've never seen anything like it, perfectly clean bowl, with a circle of dead crickets round it

The vegetables are still solid however He can't get enough of them, he loves kale , and little gem lettuce he quite likes too so I tend to mix some of that in along with it
The baby food I give him always has meat in it, usually chicken owing to the higher protein count ( plus it's the most common one , at least where I shop anyway lol )

The vet said that considering he only eats baby food he's very healthy
I keep hoping he will start eating insects again, although I can't say I miss the chirping crickets too much

I like the sound of crickets! But dubias are better if you want something more clean and quiet. And they tend to be healthier too.

I like dubias too, only problem with those is, the missus goes spare at the mere mention of roaches, plus the special clause I got put in the contract on our rented property only allows locusts and crickets :/

His tail is rather long I must admit, considering he fit tip to tail perfectly in a cricket tub when I got him he grew ridiculously lol.

Hurts when he is feeling a bit arsey and whips you with it though :/

My blue heeler's about 1 1/2 years old now--I adopted her from the Humane Society. Cordelia the calico is a feral rescue--I started hand feeding her right after she weaned from her feral mother and after about a month had gained her trust and took her indoors. She's 11 years old. Lysander, aka Xander, is the mostly white guy--he's only 9 1/2 months.

Antony, the tabby in one of the pics, was a a cat someone dumped at the same feral colony I rescued Cordelia from, and he decided he was coming home with me and I would be his human. He died this past July from cancer. Antony was a superbly awesome cat and losing him was terrible. I got Xander from a local rescue group a month later to help me move on, and he's been pretty awesome in his own way.

For my part, never owned a kitten or a puppy. When I moved to VA, brought home a 1 yr. old unwanted Rottweiler and a 9 yr. old abandoned cat from an animal shelter. Those two are my first pets in this lifetime. Economic and space constraints made it not possible to own even a cat.

I'll post pics of my two older but awesome dogs, Tiki and Shaq (yeah I named him after Shaquielle O 'Neal) and my new baby Bearded Dragon lizard, Scar-Tail (named after this badass guy) as soon as I get some good pics of them all. But in the meantime i'll just tell you all about em. I apologize about writing long ass paragraphs lol.

Tiki and Shaq: My Dogs
My two 8 year old dogs, what can I say about em? They're both fluffin amazing. I had them both since they were puppies and since I was 7 years old. I got them both after my first dog, a female golden retriever named Treasure, passed away at 9 years old (yeah, Treasure was older than me since she was my older brother's dog mainly). I remember the exact date she died because it was right before Halloween, the date precisely was October 30, 2004. I was 7 years old, I remember seeing her lie down on the back porch, sitting down and looking really sick, she wouldn't even eat or drink. So my parents took her to the Vet and the next day I heard she was dead. I woke up all excited because it was one more day closer to Halloween and when I heard that Treasure died, I'm not gonna lie, I cried my eyes out. Of course I was only 7 years old but still, I'm not afraid to say it. Treasure wasn't the healthiest dog anyway, I don't exactly remember what was wrong with her but one thing i do know is that she had terrible arthritis, and would growl at me a lot when I petted her. I knew it wasn't because she didnt like me, I knew she only did that because she was in pain. According to my Mom's stories, she would always look after me when I was a baby, and run to my parents whenever something was wrong with me. She also would love to play frisbee with me back then. R.I.P. Treasure (March 22, 1995 - October 30, 2004) such a great dog that I had the fortune of having in my life.

But before I get off topic and start talking about how I HAD a great dog, let me go back talking about how I HAVE two great dogs now. Tiki is half golden retriever and half collie (I think, me and my family aren't exactly sure what Tiki's other half is) and Shaq is a full breed Golden Retriever. After Treasure died, me and my older brother (who was in high school at the time) got Tiki as a gift from a friend of his, Katie, who gave us Tiki for free as a puppy. Then later on I got Shaq as a puppy from my dentist's relative. Shaq costed 300 bucks, a bit expensive, but he was absolutely worth it, hell, he's worth more than that, I love that dog, both of em. They're both so funny and people friendly, and they can always cheer me up when I'm feeling down. Not to mention Shaq can sound pretty fierce when he growls which is surprising considering how goofy he is lol. I've had them for half of my childhood and they're both 8 years old now, and that worries me because Treasure died at 9. I'm...not ready to see them go yet...and Tiki's been having a lot of troubles lately...such as chewing on his leg a lot and having anxiety issues (as said by the vet) That worries me even more. I can only hope that they get to live longer than treasure did...I couldn't ask for better dogs than them....

Scar-Tail: My Bearded Dragon
As I said earlier, I named Scar-Tail after an Argonian character from Oblivion. I got Scar-Tail recently from a PetSmart. He/she is very young right now probably a couple of weeks old. I haven't seen enough of Scar-Tail's personality to say anything detailed about him/her. But I do know Scar-Tail can be really funny at times by just the quirky way he/she acts and how quick he is when it comes to eating crickets lol. As interested as I am in Reptiles, honestly Scar-Tail is the first Reptile pet I've ever had. So yeah it's a bit difficult trying to get a routine with taking care of a lizard, but I know it'll be worth it in the end, and I know that Scar-Tail will be a great addition to the family. Well at least until I graduate high school and take him/her with me, by then I'll know his/her gender finally lmao.

My 2 kittehs. The fat orange tabby is Butters. I've had him since he was born. His mother belonged to a friend of mine. He moved into a place where he couldn't take her, so I volunteered to take care of her for a while. After a few months, my roommate and I got so sick of her going into heat all the time, that we threw her into the bathroom with a male. Butters was the only kitten of the litter born alive, and I decided to keep him. He's five years old now.

The gray is named Neko. She's still less than a year old. I got her from another friend who had kittens. I had recently moved to a new place, without roommates, and poor Butters was alone for the first time in his life. Since I work about ten hours a day, I decided to get him a playmate, and luckily my best friend was giving away some kittens. She has terrorized my apartment ever since.
