I'm trying to write a healer character for a short fic—someone who genuinely relies on Restoration spells in combat and downtime, not just as a backup. But every time I draft scenes, the magic feels... invisible? Like, healing yourself mid-fight doesn't have the same narrative weight as a fireball or a sneaky pickpocket moment. How do you make Restoration feel like an actual playstyle choice and not just "and then she cast a spell and felt better"? Anyone written a character whose whole thing is keeping people alive?
