Private Into The Dark

"Has anyone here put down one such Fallen as these Vampires?" He poses the question to the group, Sitting on a stump several yards from the Cave mouth, creating a small fire. "Best we wait till dark, to head inside, if the rumours are true, they'll not expect an assault when it is 'their time', methinks." he skins a rabbit after lifting it's limp form from underneath his cloak, using the pitifull hide to help light the fire, set in several stones. before roasting it over a thin pan. He invites the others to join when it's near cooked "Eat something now, you'll not have time, later." eating his fill, he puts out the fire after a few moments, before he lifts the pan from the flames, and uses his good hand to rub the fat from the cooked rabbit, into the mail rings on his armor, coating them in a thin sheen of fat. Before dissapearing into the underbrush nearby, and returning shy of several bags, lighter, for the most part, and without his cloak. "Some rest will be in order, too. if you need to take it, I'll take first watch, but it'll be dark soon."

((assuming they took a while to get there, leaving during the day/midday, just guessing, if night wouldn't fall soon, then I'll ammend that last comment.))

Seven nodded, as he saw the sky darken. The boy looked around. Rest. Climbing a tree and looking out as far as I can see is usually what calms me down. Because of the room you were locked in? Yeah. "Hold on Simon, I'll take us up." Seven said, as he patted the caterpillars head. He reached up and grabbed the lowest branch of a tree not too far from the fire. He had made it to the leafy branches of the tree before stopping. He made himself a pile of leaves to lay on, while he rested his back on the stalk of the tree, resting his legs on a branch. He lifted a finger to his shoulder and allowed Simon to crawl onto it. Seven put the caterpillar down onto the branch, watching it eagerly chew through the leaves. Seven looked down on the campsite. Glass soldier. He keeps staring at you. He's obviously the one who organized the plan to kill us.

Sera walked in with bloodshot eyes. "You have 30 seconds." Sera tapped her foot impatiently. R'alle continued pretending to sleep."15 seconds" He continued purring closing his eyes shut. She laughed " I know your awake, I heard your heart skip a beat when I walked in.Oh and you have 8 seconds." He turned and sprinted down the hall. He felt her cold hand grab his scruff. She lifted him up smiling at him hungrily. Her fangs glistened in the moonlight. He looked up at the hole and looked upon the moon. She grabbed his chin and pulled it to her. " There are no gods, they won't save you.....they didn't save me." She dropped R'alle looking at him. She looked at him like she was waiting for something. She looked down and sat, her back against the wall." R'alle thought he heard her sniffling.

He felt he should reassure her, but he was too scared. She looked at him and smiled. "I can't do it. I can't kill you, you remind me of someone. I was a little younger than you when my village was sacked, and I was kidnapped. The vampire turned me and taught me skills. I grew until my immortal form stayed. I"m sorry I killed your family and friends. I Even lost my sister." Against his instincts he sat near the vampire. She reached for him and pulled him closer. R'alle tried to wiggle. Sera giggled "Stop plz You're making me hungry when you do that, stay still. I enjoy the warmth of mortals." R'alle stilled, Sera pat his head "Good boy"
R'alle rather be killed than be a pet. He tried to wiggle again, when he heard her stomach growl. R'alle really tried getting out now. He barely get through when Sera stretched out her arms. She didn't seem to care R'alle was running.

As he ran he looked back to see Sera walking after him. He turned the corner where he saw the escape route. There was a table with chairs set around it. They patched the hole with wooden planks. There were vampires playing with blood covered hay dolls. they laughed as they pretended to have a tea party. R'alle kept on running until both vampires stood. The woman laughed at R'alle. They grabbed both of his arms as R'alle tried to run past. They walked him to sera and dropped him, holding his shoulders. Sera smiled "Ok that's enough exercise for you kitty." Sera took himm back to the room. and looked him in the eye "Tell no one of my mercy, or my story." R'alle nodded, she smiled in return. "Luke will like you" "Luke?" "The leader you'll meet him at the feast next month, now sleep my pet." R'alle frowned he hated being held up in a small areas.

Arthur sat down and leaned up against a tree. He closed his eyes thinking of the gold that awaited him once they cleared the cave. Although he felt slightly uneasy thinking about having to come face to face with a vampire. Perhaps Winter felt the same way? She did act rather strange when she referred to them at the wreckage. Arthur pondered this untill his exhaustion finally caught up to him, and he drifted into a deep sleep.

Edwin did not like the Idea of sleeping outside of a vampire lair with a whole group of people he didn't know very well (expecially that crazy boy, he seemed harmless but Edwin thought there was more to him that meets the eye). Despite this he knew he needed to rest at least a little bit. He positioned himself against a tree, as far away as possible from the lair entrance and settled into a half doze, his Sword and dagger clutched in his hands.

It was night time, and Jeroo-Shei, being the vampire he was, was feeling hungry. Argonian Vampires must feed more often than regular than other Vampires due to them being cold blooded. He turned invisible so nobody would notice him do what he was about to do. He then crept over to where Arthur was sleeping. "He's in a deep sleep, he shouldn't notice, and he's a warm blooded Nord." Jeroo-Shei thought. He bent over, inching closer to Arthur's neck, and gently pierced his flesh with his tiny but sharp fangs. He held the Vampiric Venom in his throat back with his tongue so it wouldn't go inside Arthur and infect him into a Vampire, all he did was drink the Nord's tasty blood. After the blood was drank, Jeroo gently wiped the leaking blood off from his neck with the cloth from his cloak. He then leaned against a tree with his arms crossed and meditated for the rest of the night, guarding the group from any oncoming Vampire attacks.

Winter wasn't the type to sleep easy, not here, not home, not anywhere.
Her dreams were often plagued by nightmares she'd rather swallow acid than admit to having, forcing her wide awake, condemned to sit through the lonely dark, until dawn came and she slept out of sheer exhaustion at best.
She could never sleep a full 8 hours either. It was always increments of twos and threes. Sometimes fours at the very best.

Now, leaning against a tree, she watched the others. Some looked anxious, or worried. Others seemed not to care at all. Some were even sleeping peacefully, and oh how she envied them that.

She leaned her head back against the bark of the tree, not minding as its sharp edges and bumps attempted to scrape at her soft skin.
Winter was frustrated with herself, angry that she had blown up so very profusely earlier, feeling as if she'd let far too much of herself out with her words. What if they found out? What if they asked! She didn't like people poking around in her history with curious eyes and curious-er questions. Still... perhaps it wouldn't be so bad to talk about it for a change? She'd never told anyone. Maybe she was allowing it to become a burden on her soul, turning it as black as the monsters who destroyed her village, tainting it with the sorrow and rage borne only from pure hate and grief.

Winter closed her eyes and the memory of that little girl, bleeding in her arms as the light fled her eyes, flashed through again. She raised a hand to her head, trying to quiet her thoughts and push the image out. She remembered death. So much death. Blood. Screams. Fire. Pain. Why couldn't they have left her alone when she escaped the first time?! Why did they search for her?!
And where was he? ...This was his fault. He led them to her, who else could have done it?!
She was so young, so naive, such a fool to believe that beautiful vampire could have loved anyone.
This was her fault. For trusting in monsters and treating them like men.
It was her fault her family, her village, her Sera, was dead.

Forcing her eyes open again, the flames and screams and horror were gone.
All that remained was the dusty night sky as it grew ever increasingly dark.
She exhaled and tilted her neck side to side to loosen the muscles. When would the pain end?
Perhaps this was her punishment. Perhaps this was what she deserved.
Perhaps.

On the other side of their little makeshift camp, which, really wasn't much of a camp and more of a group huddle, Lilumae sat quietly. In her hands she held a book that looked worn and well-read, her eyes were scanning the pages swiftly and her fingers could almost not keep up as she flipped through from one to the next. Surprisingly though, she looked slightly bored. It seemed she'd read this one so many times that it lacked the excitement a regular book would have for her. For some reason, she felt eyes on her and tilted her head up, to look around. Lilumae had poor night vision, and as such struggled to peer into the ever increasing darkness around her.
Perhaps it was her mind playing tricks on her?

As the sky started to darken Edwin stood up, there was no way he was going to sleep at night near a vampire lair. Leaned up against the tree he had been dozing under and looked around at the others. Most were sleeping but Edwin noticed Winter was not the least bit asleep. He walked over to her and sat down, looking into her face he saw that she was troubled. "Having trouble sleeping? I can't get proper rest in a place such as this, were we could be attacked at any time." He ran a finger down Shimmerstars edge, the lightning dancing across the blade not hurting him in the slightest.

"I can't say I sleep well anymore. I don't think I've had a decent nights rest in years." Winter admitted, smirking at the man, wearily. Here, in the dark of night, with less eyes on her and less ears listening in, one would find that the real Winter wasn't quite as terrible as the cruel facade she kept up.
"I'm not worried about an attack. I can take them. It wouldn't be the first time. I'm more worried about the kid." She tossed her head in Lilumaes direction, who obliviously had her nose buried in a book some ways away, not hearing or noticing the two speaking at all.

"She's too young for this stuff. No matter what she might think. Bravery aside, I don't want to see her getting hurt. She reminds me of someone and I don't think I could handle watching her end up with the same fate. I feel like she's my responsibility, and it's frustrating! I try not to care. But I look at her and I see someone else. I don't want to worry about the kid, but... no matter how I try, it just... doesn't work." This Winter seemed far from the cool, confident woman the group knew in the daylight.
This Winter seemed young, worried, tired and upset. She looked more her age, if anything, and it might actually be a relief to anyone who saw it, that she too had feelings. They were simply kept locked quietly away in the farthest reaching corners of her heart.

Glass had been listening. "I can relate, Winter. I am not only always armored in glass, but also in my behavior of acting tough and honorable. I wasn't always like that, though, and i am not like that completely. It is a face i put on, for my own good and everyone else's..." Glass was surprised at himself. Why did i tell that to strangers? he wondered.

Edwin looked to both, suprised at their openess. He cast a perceptive eye at Winter, his view of her changing to something more complicated that a cold hearted warrior. He was curious to know more about her past, but he didn't want to seem to invasive or prying and with the explosion she had had earlier he felt that not discussing such things was a wiser move.... for now. He instead said, "I don't think Lilumae will be much of a problem, she is brave but she is also smart enough to know how to stay alive. I remember the days when I was her age, I was a wanderer back then as well." He paused with a small smile playing across his lips at the memory, "although I may have been a little less trustworthy and a lot more rude." Before he could continue talking Edwin felt a prickle on the back of his neck, a feeling he always got when something was not right about his surroundings. Quickly he sweeped the area with his eyes, looking for something out of the ordinary. When his eyes fell on the entrance to the cave his body tensed. The door of the cave was open, with no one from the party anywhere near it. "Winter, the door," he said in a low voice so only she could hear, "They are here somewhere."

Taking no time to rest himself, he moves away from the group, to kneel with his back to them. Any within earshot might hear whispered prayers, as he holds his hands tight around what looks to be an amulet of Kyne. When he finally ends his prayers, he stands, and moves back to the group, before making his way to the cave mouth. "If I'm not back in five minutes" he holds up three fingers, looking to the others, makin sure some notice the gesture. "I'm dead and dry." before moving off to the cave mouth, he examines the area around the cave mouth, for three minutes, before returning if no trouble finds him.

"Winter the door. They are here somewhere." Edwin said. Seven had spent most of the night staring at the people and trying to get a good idea of what kind of people they were. Once the conversation with Winter had begun under the tree he was sleeping in, Seven began to feel uncomfortable. He had become curious and had already entered the cave, leaving the door wide open.

Arthur sat up rubbing his eyes after hearing that the door was open. "What i miss?" he said sleepily. He felt a sharp pain at his neck, but when he felt it, there was no blood. "Probably a bug bite or something...." he mumbled to himself. Arthur stood up and looked towards the cave. "Well...now's as good a time as ever to head in..."

Einarr sat far off from the group as they went to sleep. But instead of falling asleep he withdrew a half finished book and a sealed bottle of ink and started to write, in vivid detail about their journey so far, this thoughts and feelings about the group and their mission. As his quill danced across the pages describing everything in perfect detail he noticed voices and looked over to see winter talking to a few others.
"Guess they can't sleep either." he said to him self. Perhaps the threat of vampires kept them up, wile he on the other hand couldn't for a far darker reason.

He looked at the palm of his hand and looked at the scar that was there in perfect clarity, it was in the shape of a arcane rune and he had one in each palm, his gift or perhaps his curse. Just looking at them caused him to shudder as it brought up memory's rather to forgotten. Einarr tried to get his mind off it and looked towards e group again and saw Lil reading alone.

He withdrew another book, putting his novel away and walked towards the girl. As he got closer he lowered his head as he past by winter not wanting to be given another judgmental look or snide comment. So he sulked past not saying a word to her or the others around her and stood some what close to Lilumea. Who looked up slightly startled but offered him her normal friendly smile.
"I uhhh noticed you reading and you told me you where interested in magic so. I grabbed this from my house before I left." he holds out the
book to her. As she takes it and looks at the cover she notices its a very rare and valuable book on advanced magical theory going into different magical schools and some that aren't well known, also using magic in different and strange ways adapting the norm to fit the abnormal situation.
"it's um one of my favorites, and I have a few more with me if you finish it. And sorry about the notes I wrote in them just try not to pay any mind to them" he rubs the back of his neck a little unsure what to say. He's never given some one a gift before or at least not some thing he valued so much, as the book was the only remaining copy left, predating the oblivion invasion. (for if you read it. ---> the book is filled with notes on the sides of the pages outlining most of the more lethal spells or adaptations. Also hinting at some thing called "will power" but it's name changes from the few mentions in the book some times will power other times death magic but all the details are pretty much useless with out the context behind it. Giving only a vague idea of what it is.)

Lilumae looked up at Einarr from the book she'd previously been focusing on. He seemed nervous, which was odd for him, considering he usually held an air of grace about him that Winter wholly disliked.
He began to speak about a book, a rare one and the likes of which there were no more than one or two copies left in this world, which surprised Lilumae even further when he offered said book to her.

She stammered slightly as she accepted it, thanking him profusely. "I promise to take very good care of it! It won't be any worse for wear when you get it back. I could even make a new jacket and cover for it if you like, to keep it well for a few years more. Or, I'd happily copy over the work into a new text, that way you could leave the original as is!" Thoughts seemed to swarm over the young girls mind, making a new, pristine copy would be hard work but would be absolutely worth it to preserve the text. As she thought, she flipped carefully through the book, noting Einarrs occasional tiny scrawl in the borders of the pages.
"I could even add your notes in at the bottom of the copy, as footnotes." She grinned, liking the idea already.

Before more could be said, Winter hopped up from where she sat, calling out to the other,
"The boy has gone into the cave! Come on, he's trouble if I ever laid eyes on any, we need to go after him before he lures the enemies out with his stupidity!" With a charge of energy, she started towards the cave, indicating for the others to follow.

Lilumae startlingly shoved her new book into her satchel and without a second thought, ran after Winter.

Glass rolled with his eyes. "Told you we had to ditch him earlier." Still, he grabbed his axe and followed, strapping his shield to his arm and checking his armor. He didn't want to be surprised in that cave.

Edwin hesitated, catching Winter by the arm. "Wait, we should not simply run in recklessly. Move slowly and silently and we can catch our enemies by suprise." He moved forward quietly, looking into the depths of the cave catiously. Quickly he downed a potion from his bandolier and the dark corners of the cave sharpened. "If the boy gets hurt because of his own carelessness that is not our problem. Our job is to stay alive long enough to collect our reward."

Seven held his dagger tightly, as he walked down the dark corridor that lead even deeper into the cave. There are no vampires in here. Those guys were fools to believe in such nonsense! There is probably a chest of gold, like in the adventure stories you've read. "Yeah. Then I'll be rich, and I can afford a house or something!" Seven said, excitedly. Something dropped to the stone floor about twenty yards from where Seven stood. The boy walked slowly towards the sound, hearing a laugh not too far from him. Seven stopped in his tracks when he heard breathing from behind. It felt as if someone was breathing down his neck. Turn and jab. 3, 2, 1, now. Seven thought as he twirled around and jabbed his dagger in the direction of the breathing. It connected with something soft, and penetrated the target, but nothing was there. Seven retrieved his dagger and thrust again. Again, it made contact. A person became almost visible, first becoming a blue haze, then coming into view. It was a vampire with beaming yellow eyes and large fangs.

He was a tall but skinny man. He fell to his knees before coughing blood and falling to his face. He heard screeches coming from further in the cave, but Seven felt confident in his fighting ability. Seven took a deep breath as he continued down into the dark cave.

Einarr's eyes shot over towards the door as it was mentioned and muttered a curse and quickly made his way over to it. The wind tugged at his ragged hood as he stopped by Edwin.
"It's most likely that boy has already given us away. And wile you're not terribly bothered about his well being I would rather not have his blood on my hands so feel free to skulk around all you want, I'll be busy dealing with what ever is inside there." With that Einarr strode into the cave and carefully looked around every bend for any sign of their foe. Only to find empty passages, Einarr continued down and then almost tripped over a body, stopping to check it was clear it wasn't seven. So he stood and brushed off his hands and continued on trying to find the boy.
