Umbra - Anyone found it yet?

Umbra (for those who may be unfamiliar) was a very, very badass sword that appeared in both Morrowind and Oblivion. The kick was that Umbra was a soul stealer. Never cast Soul Trap again. With Umbra and Azura's Star, you were practically unstoppable. At least I felt that way.

Umbra was a 2H great sword in Morrowind, and a beautiful black 1H long sword in Oblivion.

Anyway, has anyone found her yet?

While I'm sure it is not the sword you long for, the Mace of Molag Bal probably replaced this sword as the daedric weapon that is the "soul stealer".

Been looking... sadly I don't think it's in the game, same as Goldbrand. Hopefully it will be in an expansion.

I read that the lore had been updated saying that Umbra may have been destroyed. Ugh. I wont give up hope!

They replaced Umbra for either The Rueful Axe, or the Masque Of Clavicus Vile.(Not sure what either of them do)

I used a console command to get to the games' testing room...
Everything!! In the game was/is there... And sadly (as I too loved umbra in oblivion, as well as the whole suit of armor in morrowind),
It was not there. :(

coc qasmoke
Gets you there...
coc whiterun
Gets you out.

Please understand that none of the daedric artifacts themselves are replacements for anything. They are continuations of lore and most have been in previous games. The Mask of Clavicus Vile (which is badass btw) is a persuassion mask. My main character uses it and I love it!

You think maybe Umbra was destroyed in transition from Tamriel to Skyrim? I mean i still don't see how it made it from Morrowind to Tam, but Dark Elves dude, weirdos....

Mmmmm it's possible that it was lost. Morrowind is actually a province of Tamriel, perhaps you meant Cyrodill. However they have a beautiful story mechanic for Umbra that effectively allows it to travel anywhere they wish. Basically the wielder of Umbra loses there own identity through the life of battle and reaping of souls. The wielder takes on the identity "Umbra" and travels all of Tamriel searching for a fitting warrior to best them in battle. Once triumphant the sword chooses the victor as it's new champion and slowly they lose themselves to the sword. It's an awesome story and part of why I have always been drawn to it. This is also why the character you always obtain Umbra from wishes to fight you and is named Umbra.

Yes meant Cyrodill thanks. I did not know that about the sword, being as i preffered never to hunt it down, but thank you for the very interesting lore behind it :) Possibly the wielder of Umbra died a death outside of battle and the sword was lost with him? Maybe your old character who did have the sword (assuming he was clearly to powerful to beaten anyways), died of old age or some other and the sword is still with him in Cyrodill? Just a thought :)
